Hi all,

I was wondering if you are checked in online at T-24, and have only carry on, do you still need to go to the checkin counter at the airport to get a boarding pass prior to going through customs and boarding?

Thanks!

This still seems to be a requirement when my mum and dad have used it on both QF and CX from BNE. No personal experience recently though.

You need to have a paper boarding pass (OLCI one is fine) to go through Customs however see the gate agent prior to boarding & tell the you did OLCI no bags so they can either reprint your boarding pass or delete the boarding comment from the boarding application that says "check passports and visas".

This above comment will always appear against pax who do OLCI for international flights (ie QF1-QF399) however the CSA will be prompted to delete the comment when you are adding bags so you only need to do the above step when travelling HLO.

If the comment isn't deleted you will get the dreaded beep at the gate & ground staff will need to fix it before you boarding passes can be scanned. Staff at some ports tear the stubs of the boarding pass as pax boarding just in case there are noshow pax so they can quickly go through the pile to see if the stub in there for the missing pax. Cardboard boarding passes are easier for doing this than tearing off the bottom section of an online A4 bit if paper.

You just need to show QF your PP at some stage (so they can mark an indicator) - this can be as late as boarding.
