Qantas Guidelines for dress standards for pilots

It must have been a slow news day.

Many occupations have the requirement to wear a uniform in accordance with company policies.

Some organisations such as many public hospitals seem to have made this 'voluntary'. All that does is lead to confusion among visitors who may sometimes want immediate attention for the patient they have come to see. If a nurse has her identification and lanyard not showing it can lead to delay in identifying 'who is who'.

A third category of organisation has a compulsory uniform for staff but some or many wear it sloppily.

The increasing tendency of online news sites to try to get us all to 'click' by running non-stories like the above is further evidence as to in which direction Australia is heading. Not good. I suspect that the redoubtable AFF member JohnK may agree.

Will be interesting to see if this applies across the entire QANTAS group - historically, grooming standards were different amongst the different business units.
