Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

You just gave me a moment of mild panic until I realised I was leaving my donation leaf till last. Will need to get some sustainable sips though now that the sustainable delivery is gone. Thankfully my holiday hovel had already been offset prior to this enhancement.
Give back is my last one, too!
I'm within 3 months of anniversary, so I suppose I could get onto it at some stage.

Yes, the “green” wine is the same leaf but if I understood correctly from the earlier
post, you can still sustainably deliver non-Green wine for a leaf?

Fortunately, my forward bookings already have WP secure by the end of Aug and next years already locked in by Jan 26. So for the first time, I’ll be taking the points on 01Aug (do they count towards PC?).

I might pass on GT for a year. I’ll probably still offset a short SYD-MEL hop AFAO just in case but will monitor this thread if I think I’ll need a 50 SC head start for the 2026/27 membership year.

So it looks like the options have changed - no more offsetting your holiday home in Tas without a car:

Recycle smart will cost you at least $45 of real money ( a 3 month subscription). and you need allow at least 6 weeks from the 3rd pick-up for leaf to arrive.

So no immediate options in this category anymore.

Means I'll stick with my earlier decision not to bother this year, as only 5 weeks to go. Will reassess next FF year.
As a territorian, this sucks cough
3 items that are not available in the NT. So I’m stuck on the “eco hotels” option

Don’t think we can do wine here either so effectively only 4 options available in total. No way to get to 5

Maybe but for a very long time they have been known in my household as QA..AS

Also part of my brain suspects this is a ballsed up update- as I think the recycling thing is new. Can imagine an intern deleting a line instead of adding an extra one
Indeed if you go to qantas marketplace, and search 'offset' the products still exist and indicate green leaf eligibility

I'm guessing they did some data analysis and saw that only Tas and SA holiday home owners were biting.

I've done a green hotel stay in the past; but there are far too few green properties to choose from right now and none internationally even though the chains they include for some properties have other eco properties elsewhere.

I have a bunch of stuff I need to dispose of so I might do the recycling thing next FF Year and see if its worth recouping Green Tier. I wont need those 50SCs next year but possibly the yar after.

Damn, I also needed to secure my 5th leaf by 31 July and was going to use the home offset to do it. Have chucked in my order, hope it still counts given its on the offset page.

If it stays as it currently says on the page, between not staying at their Green accredited hotels and then not using Qantas Wine, this means no more Green tier for me. A little disappointing but what can you do...

Sounds like you're going to add another data point to go along with @bussyboy's. Hope it works out for you both!

As mentioned up-thread, the intern might have simply made an error. Guess we can't read too much into it for now. If it stays as is, then I reckon folks have some degree of recourse given the lack of communication re: changes to the program.

PC+ for the 100 SC rollover. But gees, it’s a tough ask if not churning or passing a tonne of business expenses through CCs etc.

I easily get PC (and value the SC earn on CRs), but that additional 200k non-flying earn is a steep mountain. I might actually get relatively close this year - probably short 50-60k but don’t need the SCs next year….and 1yr comp QP is entirely useless.

So in Planet Qantas you can only offset your home if it comes with a car? Surely it is greener NOT to have a car? Perhaps they should rename Green tier to something more accurate? Suggestions please.

It’s a LOT of wine for PC+!
Don't disagree with you there! I've managed it for the last 2 years (this year inclusive). That first year was certainly harder, but I've played the game (thanks to EDR "Bank for Xmas" and GC bonuses for things on which I'd otherwise be spending money) to make the second year far easier to attain (with a few points + wine purchases thrown in).

I assumed Qantas wanted to make Green Tier fairly easy because they could use the number of green members to show their commitment to the environment and offset their reputation as polluters. In that case they wouldn’t really care that people were having the system.

I had assumed that PC was intended to persuade people to start churning - to change their behaviour. There’s little benefit to Qantas to reward people for what they would have done anyway.

I agree 350k requires some work.

I value it more than others as I don't have any QF status, so the QP yearly access is quite handy, especially now that not flying exclusively VA.
I'm half way with 31st Dec date.
Will get there with 1 cc churn, couple wine orders.
WW edr making it difficult as very quiet on offers.
