Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

Last few years Id been able to find single green leaf bottle under or 6 bottles for $1-2 over the free $50 wine voucher. This year need to spend another $28 over the voucher. Last years $51 case was undrinkable, couldn't give it away.

I also stayed at a green hotel during a triple points promo at a price no more than booking direct which I would have chosen anyway. This year to book that same hotel was considerably more than booking direct, so no leaf for a sustainable stay.

The survey, there are two to choose from this year and offsetting a short domestic flight pretty cheap but now charity donations have to be cash minimum $25 where as used to be 1.5-3k points.

This was the one I purchased a couple of weeks ago.

Was the last tick I needed and I’ll wait until June 1st to accept the SC.

I did the 🌱 charity donation on 15 May for 3200 points @Aeryn , I believe you can only pay in points?
It defaulted to $50 but when I hit the $25 button took me to 3200 points redemption.
Still waiting on email for last leaf, no rush, anniversary year is 1 July

That’s the leaf category that takes the wind out of those going for the 10k points (when you have to spend ~3k to earn 10.

Fortunately the occasional discounts on points to pay can be used for the “Give back” donation.

Had been waiting for discount on points but bit the bullet, have a motza of points @SYD so in this instance wasn't fussed.
Already did green leaf wine.

I lucked in with a discount a few months ago but at least it’s a fixed price.

Those going for the holiday home offset probably should do that first at the start of the member year to avoid further price rises. I didn’t and probably should have. It’s my last to go before the end of July… It’s on my To Do list to tick it over.

This year, it’ll be “insurance” if a flight very close to my anniversary date (that I need to retain WP) is late posting or posts incorrectly.

Otherwise, it’ll be a kick start for the next member year once again.

Plus more points to offset a flight. And if you use points to offset your home its more than than 10k.

It is much easier and cheaper to earn 10k points a myriad of other ways, the SCs are the only real award worth some minimal spend but the cost is creeping up especially if you dont live in Tassie ;)

Yes, agree. There are a couple here who were doing it for the points. Never made sense to me - too much effort for very little return.

If I get a chance I’ll revisit my post from ages ago that tallied the min cost by $ or points.

The wine voucher is a clever option that I’d not factored into the equation.

I do it for the points. I think even after the 3,200 hit for the charity donation and the minimal dollar amount (previous years) for my holiday home, I have come out ahead. I'm sure there are easier ways to get 10,000 (or 6,800) points but I would probably already be doing them anyway. I am a sucker for the scavanger hunt approach and I like having a green Qantas logo on my phone app.

Of course, green tier points don't count for PC+ so the only real value for anything status-related is in the 50SCs.

Green tier SCs are slightly better than the 100 rolled over from PC+ in that they count towards lifetime totals but otherwise, unless they mean the difference between hitting a higher tier and not, they have very little value. Having said that, if 50 SCs do make a difference to your status, green tier at ~$2/SC is still a good value.
You're right, I didn't realise that, but have just taken P2's total earned this year and it's exactly 10k short of the PC total. No secret either, it's clearly on the website, I just didn't read it haha. They do have a redeemable value of course, I'd ballpark that at $150-$200 at the low-mid range.

Agree re the SC. Neither the 100 rollover or 50 Green are /really/ essential unless you're close. I do like the 50 green counting towards lifetime (I did know the rollover didn't, status earn I'm more than on top of haha), but have never come close to needing it. The first year I was Platinum, long before green, it was 50 loyalty bonus SCs which crossed the line, but that was just to speed it up, I ended the year on hundreds more than required.

Points Club/PC+ is more valuable than Green, to me, but it's another shiny thing to chase I suppose.
