Good to see some reporting of the issue.
 
The article is wrong in the way it characterises the fees earned by Qantas

Surprisingly, Qantas and United, both large legacy carriers ranked six and seven, respectively. This is likely due to the recent implementation of basic economy fares

Qantas has introduced Basic Economy Fares? Right. Whatever.
