Qantas frequent flyers ignored by both Qantas and Emirates

This is why I have top tier in 2 major alliances....

but having said that your "home" airline benefits will (usually) be better than on partners. a CX OWE on CX will be treated differently to a QF OWE just as much as EK treating QF elites. on UA, as a 1K, I can select exit rows and have heaps of fees waived and all the rest.. I go to LH flights with the *G status, you get thrown in with the rest and find limited perks. it's just how it is.

You should receive QFF points for an EK flight (EK operated and EK number), just no QFF status credits.
I thought that was the case. Sometimes Emirates airfare on own metal is $200-$300 cheaper than Qantas airfare on EK metal but QF flight number. SCs not always important but wouldn't want to forfeit the points and the $$ savings would also come in handy.

Until now I've always been able to choose seats on QF flights operated by Emirates on the Qantas website including exit aisles when flying economy. This includes 4 international flights as late as July this year. This is the first time I've been shunted to the Emirates website where all the better economy seats are blocked. I wonder if my favorite business seat will also be blocked next time, if there is a next time.

Hi quick question how did you manage to select Exit seats on EK even on QF code share? I have never been able to select exit rows even when I was P1 with Qantas. Reports on here also indicate that even EK elites can not select Exit row seats.

Members have also reported numerous times, myself included, of seat selection made on QF website not sticking and the best way to secure a particular seat is via the EK website using the QF booking reference.

However if you define providing lounge access (to better lounges at Changi), priority phone line, better waitlist clearance, priority luggage and checkin, express passes to Australian ports and LHR when flying in Y, $280/year in DF vouchers, taking meal orders ahead of other passengers in J and in Y (if in the second half of the cabin service), and suffering the general high standards on board in premium cabins (eg. 3 champagnes and 2 coughtails served to your seat within 75 mins of take off), as"treating them pretty poorly", yes they do. They are treated very similarly to QF WP's (but not WP1's) - the main exception is lack of alliance wide F lounge access.

Flying out of MEL on Sunday as QFF SG on EK as QF Codeshare in Y. Just looking for confirmation:

J Check-in
Express Pass issued
EK Lounge access (QF J Lounge closed at 4:00am according to website)
Priority Boarding - is this at the same time as standard boarding or do EK board priority first?

Excuse the newbie questions, but this is my EK newbie experience!

Regards,

BD

Yes to all
Priority boarding called after families and assistance usually and through dedicated lanes.

I get the pass at SYD check in.

Got in MEL too,

As for priority boarding at MEL, I wouldn't have a clue, the lounge tend to make an announcement when in final stages of boarding. When I've done so, headed downstairs shortly after the announcement, and straight onto the plane with no queues at all (for me, perfect, in the lounge as long as possible and in the metal tube as brief as possible). So if you have the desire to board early, probably would head down before the lounge announces.

I don't think SG's are entitled to Express Pass when travelling Y.

Interesting - thanks Bismark.

I've received it last month at MEL when checking in using the International Transfer Desks at MEL for a SYD connection, so didn't even check the published benefits.

I'll report back on how I go.

My friend received the express pass when QF gold all the time he said flying Syd-AKL on EK and sometimes gets them now he is silver. We flew together when he was silver and he definitely received an express path card.

Random weird experience a few weeks back on AKL-MEL in F.

Boarding pass had my QF status (well "QF Platinum") on it (issued at AKL lounge) yet FA came to me early on spruiking Skywards to me to join. I mentioned I was a QF Platinum (I didn't bother saying P1) and she said "Oh, there's nothing here on the manifest. Sorry").

In no way do I feel "ignored" by EK over this, it just seemed really weird.

the only difference to my normal MO with EK is I checked in online via the EK website as I was doing a same day turn in AKL so I wanted to be checked in for the flight in case my inbound was delayed significantly.

Still had a great flight (easy with 2/14 in F :) )

PS: QFF points/SC posted just fine.

No Express Pass provided at MEL, but when I checked-in (3:55am) "Security won't be open for 5 minutes". Without the Express Pass - and initially only one machine operating - it took about 15mins to navigate (they opened a second machine after about 10mins). No express lane open for immigration, no Smart Gates operating - initially only 1 person processing passports - gradually increased to 4 people.... Priority boarding wasn't called, they just opened a lane and there was a rush; all-in-all not a premium experience at MEL for anyone!

I did receive an Priority Lane card for DXB onboard - not sure when ... it appeared in my seat pocket while I was asleep. Didn't use it, there were less than 6 people at each of the three machines (Concourse B) - with the Priority Lane being probably 2 less than the others but wasn't being policed and so I use the PL and kept the card. My ICE screen went down about 1/3 of the way MEL-DXB leg. Despite a couple of different FAs supposedly getting my unit restarted, never came back. As I dozed most of the flight, it wasn't as much of an issue as it would have been on the shorter

Priority Boarding wasn't called at DXB. After families, they called boarding for First, Business and Economy Zones. I approached, asked about priority boarding and was waved through.

Purser (or whatever the EK equivalent is) greeting onboard the DXB-CDG leg, asked me about my trip so far and offered any help needed - did not expect this as a lowly SG!! Didn't receive Express Path for CDG - but there didn't appear to be a lane to use anyway! Priority-tagged bags were available away from the belt (it took an announcement after about 10mins of my standing by the belt for me to realize).

All-in-all, a pretty mixed first experience on EK ... looking forward to the return ....

BD
