20.4 Priority Economy Class Seat Purchase
20.4.1 Priority Economy Class Seat Purchase is available to Platinum Members under the following conditions:
(a) the Member must hold or purchase a ticket in the nominated fare type for domestic (Fully Flexible fares in Y or H class) or international travel (full Economy in Y class or the highest excursion fares in Y, B or H class) on a Qantas operated service with a Qantas flight number (excluding non-jet QantasLink services);
(b) a maximum of two seats per request is permitted - one of which must be for the use of the Member, and the other for a person travelling with the Member on a paid ticket;
(c) the booking or request must be made no later than midday (local time in the city of departure) on the day prior to the scheduled departure;
(d) E-Tickets, rather than paper tickets, must be purchased for domestic flights and wherever offered internationally;
(e) Qantas may occasionally have to restrict this facility without prior notice on some routes or under special circumstances;
(f) normal check-in times and conditions apply; and
(g) this service does not apply to Qantas or Jetstar Any Seat Awards.

20.6 Classic Award seat allocation
20.6.1 Qantas may at its discretion make available to Platinum and Gold Members additional allocations of Classic Award seats.

Hi,

I was just checking SYD-PER redemption rates and noticed that the points quoted on Anyseat are inclusive of all taxes/fees/charges.

So domestically it does seem too bad for some routes.

Quite a few international flights I have looked at are cheaper in F than J !!

Just looked at a MEL-BKK flight in a few weeks. I got a flight in 'J' (read JQ starclass) for 48,000 points.

Behold...

Cheaper in J AND F than discount J!

Swing and a miss, QF.

Welcome to the Qantas FrequentBuyer Program! :confused:

Hopefully the media gives them a good pounding over this joke of a scheme!

Told a few people at work. They're looking to get out ASAP after burning their points!

Also I noticed that J is much cheaper (points required) than full Y on this route on some flights.

Does anyone know whether they are planning on keeping the "classic rewards" or will they simply phase them out once we all get used to the anyseat concept. Classic rewards still seem to be the same number of points for now.

QF have said that there will be no change to classic awards. Some people believe that, some don't.

Keeping them and retaining the number of points required, however the punters' money is backing a diminishing number of seats available under the classic scheme! :confused:

I've read this about 5 times and don't understand it. Does it mean that I can only get a Y+ redemption if I have purchased one?

What happened to giving 6 months' notice for any negative "enhancements"?

Just looking at the ad on qff.com.au

Welcome to the FrequentBuyer program!

How is this a negative enhancement? You have more opportunities use points and can redeem awards at current rates as before. It is only if you assume that the number of classic seats will be limited as a result of this that there would be any negative enhancements. In that vein QF could restrict the number of award seats without any notification of the change.

Yes, overall very strange when Y exceeds J and then on Int routes D is more than F.

With Amex offering $1000 per 100000 points I think that this could be the way to go (still bad but better than AnySeat)

1000000 ($10000) points would almost cover a SYD-LHR return in D/J and you would earn SC's and points, making it a lot more attractive than giving QF over 1 million points.

Actually it would pretty much fund a DONE4 ex-SYD earning you potentially 100K FF points and 2400 SCs...

Am I doing something wrong? If I try and book a Classic seat for 11 months out I am only able to see economy. Can't seem to get at any Y+ or J. Is this a "new" feature of Classic seats?

JB

Hadn't thought that much about it but now you point it out...sounds good, and makes the new redemption rates on AnySeat even more scary.

I'm tipping that Oneworld Awards would be a no go via the Anyseat system?

I checked out SYD-LAX-SYD and for next April/May there was only Y flying SYD-LAX but a mix of Y/J/F LAX-SYD.

Anyseat is only on QF flight numbers so no oneworld awards. You could potentially create one by flying codeshares.

This is nothing to do with Y+ or redemptions. This is about a Platinum FF member being able to purchase an economy seat on any flight even if no availability in any economy classes exists. Its the "Economy seat guarantee" for Platinum members.

Thanks NM. Understand it now - it makes much more sense.
