They could possibly use the third aircraft (delivery end December) for 3/wk flights MEL-YVR/SYD-YVR from mid-Jan to Mar, until the MEL-PER-LHR service begins on 24-Mar (after the fourth aircraft is delivered)
I don't think we've seen any additional scheduling over this period.
The 3rd 787 will also be flying MEL-LAX for much of the time after its arrival at the end of December. Between February 12 to March 24, QF95/96 drops from 6 to 4 per week and 3-4 weekly QF93/94 drops from A380 to 787.
They are also likely to use 787s during this period between MEL-LAX runs to cover an A330 domestically to free up an aircraft for SYD-KIX.
All the 787s are spoken for until the 5th arrives in 11 months.

and of course to ramp up experience in handling them at MEL and PER domestic, so can definitely see PER-MEL-LAX-MEL-PER type rotations in there.

so expect lots of ops for some transcons on the beast not only in the Oct-Dec timeframe, but possibly Feb/Mar

Absolutely, would otherwise be sitting around MEL for a long time between flights, do need to shift the aircraft between terminals though, albeit this is much easier at MEL

I can confirm this. I am booked on QF93 & 94 in March in F. I received the dreaded "your flight has changed" email. On looking into it, my A380 had been downgraded to a 787. I changed my flying days to stay in F on the A380. No way I was going to do a transpac in J in a 787 when I was booked in F on an A380!
