You need to know what the fare is and what the +++ are.
My $117 all up cost I mentioned way back in post #70 - was actually $94 with $23 in +++, so a $50 voucher was in order.
Fortunately this is easy to discern before buying the voucher by clicking the all up cost on the review page (a pop-up window with with a brief breakdown will appear).

I've been looking at flying from MEL to SYD in January.
Current O fare is $117 composed of $94 and $23 in [SUB]+[/SUB]+[SUP]+[/SUP]; add $7.70 to that if paying by CC to total $125.
Earn is 1000 QFF points for the flight and 312 points with 2½point/$ card. So 1312 QFF points for trip and $125.
With this same O fare, $50¹ voucher + $67 in [SUB]+[/SUB]+[SUP]+[/SUP] to total $117.
Earn is 1000 QFF points, 500 bonus and 294 points with 2½point/$ card.
So 1794 QFF points for trip and $117 outlay.
¹ Since the base fare is less than $100 and greater than or equal to $50
