Qantas Fleet Grounded 29/10

Yes, I will get the original routing credit. I asked the question as it was a major consideration when booking the FASA. I have to request it after the flight.

Thanks for the spell check. That was a shocker. I blame the alcohol .

Good to hear! :) I asked because a prime reason I (and I'm sure I'm not Robinson Crusoe here) use ASAs is for the earn.

Alcohol has a lot to answer for!

I know memories fade - luckily we have easy access to statements & press releases these days.....this guy is a complete and utter tool.

Don't buy Qantas tickets: union

:mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

Well here it is from your link, and as I said there is no overt statement to go out and buy with other airlines. It is hypothetical advice only.

"If I was a person considering travel over the period up until Christmas I'd probably be looking at airlines other than Qantas.
"If I was a passenger I wouldn't be purchasing a ticket with them at this stage."

There is a whole lot of blaming here, the unions V Qantas - Mr Joyce & co....

From what I remember My Joyce Sunday morning on ABC TV stated he recommended
the lock-out to the board and then they agreed....he continually referred to 'I' blah, blah....

What of course would be really helpful in trying to understand the whole process of who wants
what and who won't deal would be simple.....

Have all parties 'legally' supplied with the exact demands - pay increases & all other 'wants' then
Qantas (Mr Joyce & co) say what they are willing to give - if anything, also 'legally'.

I understand that unions always ask for more then they are really requesting....
eg - we want 5% increase so we will demand 9%.......

I have read various differing percentages of the increase they are asking for so leaving the general
public somewhat confused.

And to all those people all over the net, press saying 'if not happy in your job - leave' that is alos
answer....how long does it take to train these mostly wonerful employees of Qantas. Maybe being
well into my fifties, I cannot undertand the value of changing careers constantly throughout ones
working life?

Sure Mr Joyce can depart from Qantas - which ever road he decides to take he will be well and
trully financially secure. And if he doesn't stuff up can happily go off to yet another airline!

I doubt of course that Mr Joyce uses any Australian companies call centres or other business based
off shore personally.

Please don't shoot me down in flames, I am no where near as knowledgeable as the majority of the
members here :)

LATEST UPDATE: Fair Work Australia is now deliberating, and has announced they will rule at 0100hrs AEDST/1400hrs GMT.

More info as it comes in.

Hopefully this will give us some idea of when things will return to normal.

It all lays down on the final word. Would that be suspension? Or something Qantas had hoped for?

I can't see anything about an interline agreement.
Here is the link and here is the quote from that link

Rebook with endorsement to another carrier where Qantas have an Interline E-ticket Agreement.*

I admit I am confused and do not quite understand it either as one link is contradicting the other.

Ah, I'm going blind. I take that to be if qantas does the rebooking. I'm relying on the following:

Customers who purchase a new ticket with an alternative carrier, Qantas will reimburse the difference between the cost of the new ticket (in same cabin of travel) and the value of the refunded Qantas ticket

I'm a customer who purchased a new ticket. Hope it works. But now I see it, it is confusing.

ummm now there is a story on the Tele blaming M/s Gillard

OK I am unable to post links.....not enough posts for permission - The story is on the Daily Telegraph
website - possibly on news.com.au anyway!

Pardon me but wasn't she busy with Commonwealth Heads of Government Meetings - yeah I'll
drop everything for you Mr Joyce - let's be real! When did he become more important than Heads
of Government. If this whole lock out was in the process he could have done one of two things.
Waited until today to call or call her days ago, as it is now appearing that this lock out may have
been in his thoughts before Saturday 29/10/11......

On the news there is to be an announcement at 1am, I'm not opening a book nor taking bets on the
outcome :p

Well it's midnight in BNE and 1am in SYD, announcement may be imminent but I need sleep. See what the news says in 6 hours

Watching ABC News 24 and waiting for the decision. Gotta say previously I was clearly on QF's "side", purely because I did not like the daily/weekly stop-works and the cynical union attitude, and figured the industrial action could not be allowed to continue indefinitely. I still think that, but by gosh I'm also jumping all over the place as to the rights and wrongs and the various parties' motives. Outcome will be interesting, both in the short term and the long term.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

According to Latika Bourke from ABC (on twitter), "Judges 'not far off'".

Sooner the better, some of us are dropping like flies.

Also looks like assembled press pack has been locked out of the hearing while the verdict is delivered. So it's basically waiting on a court official to come out and make the announcement, which won't be done until that official is permitted to do so.

Cancel last, the press pack is in the hearing. The Justices chairs were just checked, but the delay relates to written decisions being delivered.

Breaking news from FWA.

They have made a decision and all industrial action has been terminated (what Qantas wanted)

There is a risk of appeal to the decision so they have issued a written notice which is why it has taken longer than expected

Fair Work Australia ruling

The Justices of the Fair Work Australia tribunal have delivered their verdict, and they have ruled that the industrial action is TERMINATED effective NOW.

QF did state via Twitter that there will be no flights until at least Monday afternoon, and this decision means that this is likely to stay current.

The court is issuing a written decision, as the Justices believe the dispute is likely to be escalated through higher court.

More information soon.

One wonders if Tony Abbott will find fault with the decision of Fair Work Australia? It seems he's been negative about everything else.

Thank goodness it's all over. For now.

Cant wait for Tony's response in the morning . All bets are off ...his response to everything is negative.

Hey, the Neil Perry party pies are coming back!

You can thank awilcockson for that, having the cojones to ask Neil himself a question about them at the QFF/AFF lunch.

And like the pies, those planes will be back in the air soon enough.

The pies are back already! I had several in the domestic J lounge at SYD a few days ago!

Industrial action terminated by Fair Work Australia. :)

QF got the outcome it wanted - and passengers and staff get certainty.

Good result; just a pity it had to take such a tactic to force a resolution.

Now, if the parties cannot agree within a given timeframe, FWA can arbitrate on the long-term settlement (which certainly will not include the unworkable and unrealistic 'job security' clauses the unions have been pushing for).
