Qantas First Class menus

I was on QF11 on Sunday (19th), equally surprised at the Taittinger BdB being served pre-takeoff. I switched to the Head shiraz after departure so can't remember what the in-flight bubbles were.

Interestingly I had the lamb for main as well, I didn't find it as bad as you described, but not the best main I've had on QF.

I actually had the cheeseburger for dessert, felt like the right thing to do on a flight to the US. Went down well with another couple of glasses of shiraz.

My stupid decision was to have the steak on the way home on QF12 last night, which was essentially a piece of cardboard. The menu said it came with a "sour cream peppercorn sauce" which I asked for when it was served, only to be informed that said sauce is actually included (and therefore pre-dehydrated) as part of the cardboard/meat itself. 0/10 do not recommend.

Never order steak on QFF. It’s reheated for minimum of 15 mins in microwave by galley rules making it simply inedible. Been doing this for years and blaming food safety rules for the complete disasters they surve. Sound like they are doing it with the lamb now.
Maybe too many vegetarians as cabinet staff! :)

Other airlines seem to manage to cook steak properly but not QF. Sigh…

That maybe, but the quality of the meat out of LAX is dreadful regardless of the cook. Steak ex AUS or SIN tends to be quite tasty regardless of whether it is well done but it horrible from Los Angeles.

Decided to try something different, and went with the lamb. Epic fail! It was a disaster, overcooked/overfryed, brocolini tasted burnt and overcooked as well. I managed a few bits and sent it back. Overall, a disappointment.

Did you order another main or were you offered something else in replacement?

SYD-SIN this week, same menu as previously posted. I had the buffalo mozzarella salad which was not much more than a giant ball of cheese on a piece of lettuce, and the green curry which was very tasty but the tofu was a very tough chew. The other vegetables in the curry were much better.

SIN-LHR menu below (sorry my photos are nowhere as neat as others have taken):

The tuna tartare was up there with one of the best meals I've had on a plane. Great texture, the sauce was superb, I would have ordered another but they'd run out so obviously a popular option.

After the tuna the chicken was pretty disappointing, the flavours were nice but the chicken itself was a bit dry and bland.

Pecan pie to finish was tasty but again a little dry once the cream ran out.

Last month's QF12 menu.
The first wine list was given on the ground.
No good Champagne opened until up in the air.
When the bar cart was opened, I was given the second wine list and told that was the correct one.
No Taittinger loaded for either vintage :(
Just Bollinger LGA 2015 and Pommery Cuvee Louise 2006. 2 bottles of each.
No St Henri loaded either - the second list must have been the one on the way over.
No cheeseburger on the menu - looks like it is catered ex-SYD in lieu of the steak sandwich.

How curious that, except for the white chocolate, they specifically listed two of the essential ingredients that make up a tiramisu.

I've never seen St Henri on board before, shame they didn't load that!

The Head Brunette was the Shiraz when I was on QF11 last month, I can't remember the option on QF12 but it wasn't great.

I've only seen the cheeseburger on the menu ex-SYD, it was on both the QF11 and QF1 menus last month.
