The Pommery Louise is so good they listed it twice!

Why on earth is the same vintage of Pommery listed twice with the same description? Bizarre

It's Qantas.

The Bollinger was free-flowing (although I only had a taster along with my preferred whiskey). And a hot towel was provided before take-off.

After that, no sign of the 'new' F experience. Old amenity kit provided (as I said in another thread). Zero reference to dine any time -- eat now or sleep; then breakfast was the choice/assumption. Not unreasonable given the time but this is one of just a handful of F flights so it feels like another con job.

My table wouldn't deploy which wasted close to an hour of the flight while the crew tried to fix, then organised a swap of seats with a (very kind) passenger who was just going to sleep.

Actual food was decent if unremarkable (will post pics later). Crew were fine and tried hard, but overall another average flight on QF's very average F product.

Sorry, was it not listed on the menu? Or is your comment regarding dine on demand, that the crew didn't offer it?

It is written on the menu but was asked if I'd like to eat now or sleep then be woken for breakfast (or not). To be fair, I didn't ask about eating later - though given the table fail I did end up eating somewhat later.

In my opinion an actual improvement to dining would be allowing pax to see a menu beforehand and having the option to pre-select from a wider range of dishes X days before the flight. QF only fly F from a handful of ports so it shouldn't be too hard.

The food:
Canapes and drink provided before I could settle into new seat!

Crab cakes were a little dry but definitely tasty.

I asked for a sample of the soup. Turned out to be the highlight of the supper. Very tasty and with bonus piece of chicken as well. If I had a 3rd stomach I'd request a full bowl.

None of the mains appealed so thought I'd try the beef. Very tough and (no surprise) overcooked. But it had a great flavour. Potatoes and snap peas were nice.


Cake was OK. Cheese plate underwhelming but fine -- and I didn't really need it at this point.

But asked for cheese and a croissant for breakfast and was served this.

Main for breakfast was the eggs and mushrooms on focaccia. Bread was soggy but this actually suited me. It was very tasty and probably the best thing eaten.

While my seat swap obviously caused a delay, I felt the service was well paced. Efficient but relaxed. Quiet enough to allow some others to sleep but no pressure on those who were awake. Must be challenging to get this right on such a timed flight in a relatively open cabin.

Hang on- it said Pommery Louise twice… But then you got served Bollinger Grand Année instead?

For what it’s worth, two of the absolute best Millesime champagnes around. I love the Louise but the Bollinger is even better. Both very “adult” champagnes which I personally prefer over the nice but much more mainstream Dom Perignon. Qantas definitely delights the champagne lovers with their F offerings!

I'm not really into champagne so won't pretend to know much about the differences. Just had a bit to try and it was nice.

I gather the Bollinger is part of the enhanced F service. But from reports (including on AFF) it is hit and miss as to whether it is loaded; and seems to run out pretty quickly even when it is. Perhaps why it wasn't on the menu.

QF1 SYD-SIN VH-OQD 9/2/26

Very good crew today on QF1, hot towels are back and Pomery on today’s flight. A bit disappointed that the Tolpuddle Pinot has been replaced but looking forward to a great flight.

Will post pictures of food after the flight.

I flew F SYD-SIN on QF1 a few weeks ago and enjoyed the same menu. I wondered if I could order both the tuna and the soup, but chickened out and only went with the soup! My steak was cooked much more medium well unfortunately.
