Hey guys,

I’m flying Emirates First out of Sydney next month, but I booked it via Qantas as a codeshare for QFF. Am I allowed to use the Qantas First Check-in at Sydney, or do I have to check in at the Emirates desks?

If the partnership was closer, you'd think QF and EK would combine elite check in.

Back in the days of QF/BA partnership, IIRC, BA did premium check in for QF flights at LHR.

Having flown SQ F recently, I checked in within 2 mins and walked over to the J/F Express Path to see a line at QF F at Row D and people sitting within the “suite” looking unhappy.

I’ve never had a wait at QF F SYD.
I think the set up is pretty good there.

Two times I've tried to use it, got stuck behind sporting groups.
Guess they were Platinum as well, or were given special access.

MEL FCL check in suite is still closed.

There was a period last year when the F checkin wasn’t open all the time but staff would use those desks for group checkin. Combine that with paperwork checks, everyone was queuing back then.

I suspect they were WPs on afternoon/evening flights and there was one group with a lot of sporting luggage.

I couldn't see any F hosts.

When in F, I always request a host so never had to queue as BPs are generally preprinted.

Wasn't open at 6pm last Friday either. 50+ people waiting for J check-in with just 3 counters open...
I’d be tempted to go to the self check in area but “paperwork” checks can foil that cunning plan….

Yep, that was the issue - most pax in the queue (including my partner) had to show their proof of vaccination and VisitJapanWeb form filled.
