I had a go at writing a Qantas Frequent Flyer song - it goes to the tune of Cold Chisel's Khe Sahn. cheers - hope someone likes it
I lost my points to the Ansett man, oh damn
Then I sold my soul to Qantas, and the Oneworld plan
I had the Golden Wings cold turkey
From Melbourne to the Silver City
And it’s only other FF’s understand
About the long forgotten award flight guarantees
There was not as much fine print, in the T&Cs
How I flew into Sydney airport
Saw an award flight but I couldn’t get it
I was denied and I was in the Qantas plan
And it was like so many more from that time on
J class was empty, till they found their chosen one
And the flights were often open
But the awards were always closed
And the upgrades they were a wait in vain.
And my flyer card was gold and platinum once I’d seen
And now Jetstar fly the routes where Qantas once had been
But Y Class makes me jumpy
And I never stopped the dreams
Or the growing need for F Lounge French champagne
So I flew across the country from end to end
Tried to find a way to get the flights so I could see my friends
Had bronze for a long time
Got upgrades where I could
But the QP almost drove me round the bend
And I've travelled round the world from year to year
And each one sees me gold, one more year the tiers stood still
And I’ve been back to Star Alliance
But the answer sure ain't there
So I’m in the lounge ‘til check- in time again
You know the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone
Only seven flying hours, and I'll be landing in Hong Kong
There ain’t nothing like the credits
From an F Class status run
I’m gonna hit that skybed mattress all night long
Well the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone
Yeah the last plane out of Sydney's almost gone
And it's really got me worried
I’ve got no upgrade & I’m in a hurry
