Qantas FF "newbie" upgrade please help

I think they are saying LTG is better than just gold (both come with Qantas club), but paid Qantas club + silver, is better than LTS, which is better than silver. Never seen a list as explicit as this before!

OW status pax can't upgrade with points on QF unless they are also QFF members (since you can only do it with QFF points), in which case it's their QFF status that would determine their "rank".

yes of course. I was also thinking of, in the case, of op ups, where it may be say you have no Plat's or Golds, but perhaps a OWE on board, which in theory should get a look in ahead of a QPPS but it's a very minor point I agree

Sorry for the relatively simple questions. Looking to upgrade using approx 260K Qantas points for flight from Melb to London on 15 May and return 15 following month.

Appears upgrades are not confirmed until day before flight. Looking to upgrade to business.

Can I have an idea of chances or past experiences with upgrades. Upgrade is for partner and myself.

Appreciate any assistance. Also if there is any other way to guarantee an upgrade earlier.

Have you booked the particular airfares that are eligible to upgrade on points? When you view your booking via MMB there should be an upgrade using points button that will
tell you whether the airfares are upgradeable or not.

The amount of people who received ODU's same time last year on that flight is irrelevant as the only thing that matters is what the loads are like for the actual flight you are booked on.

To be successful in the ODU stakes the number of seats available in J must exceed the two people in your booking plus anyone who has a higher PCV ranking than you ie 30 upgrade requests ahead of you plus both of you = 32 pax wanting ODU's to J so there needs to be al least 32 J seats available when the upgrades are processed.

I read the WP+ as being the WP's with >2400 SC's, so yes they came ahead of WP in the chain

I have been led to believe there are no more than six discrete bands these days with PCV being the inter band decider.

CL, WP1, WP, SG, PS & others.

i.e. A CL booked in Y+ with a pcv of 23400 will be upgraded to J before a WP booked in Y+ with a pcv of 98700.

you either get it or you don't
