On a Personal note, hitting LTG over summer was perhaps a stroke of pure luck,

Don't worry, you won't be!

Well I'm 2/3rds of the way to LTG for AA, but that also seems like a lost cause (and glad I recently burnt 170K AA points sending my wife to London in October). VA has no lifetime benefits and nothing with BA etc...

Then again, maybe the status wheel is finally losing it's gloss. Might just buy points where I need them and fly in premium cabins.

Get ready for status from spending!

More like earning! ;)

Also this is what we know so far:

- Economy rewards have lower points needed and lower carrier charges effective immediately

- Premium cabin rewards have higher points needed and lower carrier charges from September 18, since they need 3 months notice for negative changes (points increasing)

- Upgrade rates are increasing when requested after September 18

- There will be NO dynamic pricing for rewards

- Oneworld awards won't be affected.

- LTP is a go for 75k

- 'Points Club' will be a thing for high earners

So basically there's nothing good here at all for frequent flyers, only for non-frequent flyers who think a Y redemption from MEL/SYD once a year is the best use of their points.

If what the Australian is reporting is true and QF actually follow through with more reward seats across all cabins and lower taxes, then the bump up in premium awards/upgrades don't seem too bad on the face of it....:confused:

All very exciting. More seat availability is definitely a good thing. I wish I had popcorn but will be assessing a patient during the announcement and will no doubt return once all is said and done to see this thread size doubled ;).

If the fuel surcharges are going down then a Y award for certain destinations may actually become a decent use of points

This was quick and dirty, so apologies if any errors...

Looks like there is a 3 month "sweet" period where premium cabin recemption costs are not increased in cost and economy redemption costs are lowered. 20th June to 17th September. There is the statutory 3 month period. Sure they are changing the Y costs but who will pull Qantas up for making things cheaper?
