Qantas FF and Woolworths create new loyalty alliance

The problem l have with this, l predict will begin to bite in about 18 months.

I agree with the above comments re lot's of people are already QFF members but only collect small amounts of points and battle to achieve a single award redemption amount. The new Wooly's plan will see many of these people suddenly being able to achieve a redemtion level more quickly and more often.
especially now that QF has locked into direct credit card transfers.

I also agree that that the new Wooly's earning and free QFF membership will see hundreds of thousands more new members coming on line in the next 12 months.

I do not see Qf increasing availability of classic awards from there present level any time soon.

And this is the pot from where most of these new and existing members with the wooly's increased earning will be going for flight awards. Any seat awards will be to far out of reach for the majority of these folks.

In 18 months l predict classic awards will be almost impossible to redeem unless one has either Gold or Platinum status.

I predict that QF will come under even more attack from the masses because they can't redeem a seat.

This may be a great marketing ploy by both wooly's and QF in the begining. But given time if they don't deliver increases to classic award availability there will be a public backlash.

I will be doing everything in my power now to centralise to one FF program and to maintain as higher status as l can with one airline alliance. I want that airline not just to see l have the highest status, but also to see my true commercial value to them in hard currency. Something tells me in the future high status by itself won't be enough

With what is happening in the world of commercial aviation at the moment and into the distant future. Even true FF's will have to re-define there stratergys and how they work there memberships.

There's always a few that go into panic mode, every time a new "enhancement" gets announced.

Yes, there will be more QFF points out there. Yes, there may be less QFF availability. Big deal. Deal with it. Redeem earlier. Redeem on partners, if you can't find QF availability.

It does mean that QF (or QFF if it's a separate entity) will be getting more cash in their coffers. However, they still will have a liability due to these points (which the majority won't / can't redeem).

It can't never ever get to the stage where there is more availability on classic awards, than availability on the cheap/sale fares. Simple Yield Management.

Like most of previous posters have said, most of the people who earn a lot via Woolies and the like will have large families or large appetites (by virtue of their large Woolies bills). Those with large disposable incomes and small families probably won't shop as much in Woolies as the previously mentioned...

It's also possible that reemption won't just be for flights. I'm sure a lot of the great unwashed will be wanting to redeem points for TVs, gift vouchers, etc. Similar to the Membership Rewards scheme. I'm just in it for the flights.

Indeed and I agree, though it is not just possible. One can aeady reddem for all sorts of things including theatre tickets.

QF are expanding into all sorts of rewards.

However I am curious as to why some (not you) do not believe that QF will increase FF seats...if it does sell more FF points.

FF points is just another means for QF to gain income...and they are trying to grow this golden goose even bigger.

If they do not increase seats in line with increased point sales then they will kill off their golden goose.

Especially if QFF is a separate entity to QF. QFF will have to pay QF for seeats on a flight. It makes sense to me that QF might just release extra seats to it's best "customer"

In a Points Balance and May Offers email I got from Qantas FF this evening:

I received that statement in a points balance email from QFF a few days ago too.

In addition, late yesterday I received a targeted, emailed discount offer from WW Everyday Rewards that contained this:

Woolworths has clearly commenced promotion of the WW - QFF alliance.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yup, same one. Something about Dove products for this next week.

They said mid-year, so I'm hoping June will be the launch, not long to find out.

Most of these targeted offers I get are ridiculous. Spend $300 in one transaction, just to get a paltry extra 5c off fuel etc. Oh and the last one, spend $55 or more on meat. Who the hell does that? It's cold and windy, BBQ season is well over in victoria.

Winter is a great time for meat. Yesterday I made a big pot of Chili Beef, a curry in the crock pot and bough corned beef to make later in the week.
Lots of hearty meals for those cold winter nights.
Feeling hungry yet?

Some to me don't make sense, as I'm just a single person and don't buy that much food, but I can see how they'd be useful to a family.

A recent targeted (or not) offer for strepsils gave me 2 large packs for $16 and a 10¢ fuel voucher. It also lasted 2 weeks and could be redeemed multiple times, I was very happy, but should have bought more strepsils and got more fuel savings.

Latest is 25% off Dove products, but no fuel savings. Boring.

When I used to chase fuel offers my answer in these cases was not to buy more Strepsils, but to get a few jerry cans. The limit is something like 150 litres per vehicle per voucher. I can fill my car 2.5 times from 150 litres! :D

It's a good idea, though I'm slow to buy stuff like that. Got any spare ;)

I must admit that I got them to take advantage of a 20c fuel offer, I think they still owe me a few dollars. But it is lucky that my mower takes unleaded.

The Everydayrewards progam linked to Qantas FF commences on the 1st June for Woolworths staff.

Staff can register their Staff Discount card as an Everydayrewards Card, then link it to Qantas FF. If they are not already a member they will be able to join for free.

As an incentive, staff who link their card to QF FF go into a draw to win 20,000 QF FF points, one draw every day for 21 days.

Woolies are using staff to test the program before going live with customers on the 1st July.

Will Everydayrewrads members also receive free Qantas FF membership? No details so far.

Bummed I have to wait another month, but it's a good idea to test the system and make sure it's all working smoothly.

Makes me wish I worked at woolies though.

Now if only they'd done that with the Select Seats option in the bookings! LOL!

The Everydayrewards site now asks if I want to link my card (not a Staff member) with QFF membership, or join QFF free of charge. Tried linking but system is suffering "technical difficulties".
