Qantas extends status extensions until end June 2023 (previously December 2022)

Best practice is to create a brand new booking no earlier than just after midnight GMT on the opening day of the promo as despite what the T&Cs say QF’s computer systems use GMT time for determining if a booking is eligible. Waiting an extra day doesn’t hurt.

Obviously any new bookings made now would be well after midnight GMT on the opening day but it is something to keep in mind for future promos.

I have used up two of my vouchers for a trip. The vouchers were issued when trips cancelled in 2020. Booked post this announcement
1) booked after the announcement date and before end of my year (Oct )
2) will fly before end of 2022 (after my expiry date )
3) do vouchers have allocated pnrs? So I would need another trip ?

Any issues with that , so that my status remains ?

Otherwise I will have to book a random to Melbourne and back
Thanks for the advice

Vouchers have allocated PNRs, but Travel Pass does not.

You can easily compare the PNR for your upcoming trips with the PNRs of the vouchers for your cancelled trips.

You need a brand new PNR to qualify for the extension.

So the T&C do indicate flight CREDITS can be used:

How can I pay for the new booking?
Eligible bookings can be paid with cash, Qantas TravelPass, Qantas Flight Credit, Qantas Gift cards or with Qantas Points (via a Classic Flight Reward or Points Plus Pay). Bookings can be made directly with Qantas or through a third party such as your preferred travel agent.

but the old style flight credits (as opposed to Travel Passes) will have an old PNR creation date.

So T&C say you should be fine, but you may need to chase up if it it does not automatically work but I think you should be OK.

If the "voucher" you mention was in the form of a Travel Pass (ie the 1081..... credit card like form of payment) then no issue.. if it's a flight credit with a 6 digit PNR then it should still work, but possibly with manual intervention.

Ahh it was paid for with Qantas Pass. I had forgotten that they and converted to that
So looks like I am good to stay at status for one more year :)

Thanks Richard and mviy

Hi all
Convoluted question. I'm hoping I haven't stuffed this up. I'll start with the chronology:
July 21 - booked flights to NZ for family holiday
Aug 21- QF announces status extension support. Book a flight before membership year end (in my case 28 Feb 22) for travel before 30 June 22.
Oct 21 - cancel NZ flights and use flight credit to book family flights to HTI in Jan '22. Same PNR
Oct 21 - book flight to LHR (Y+) for self only in Apr 22
Jan 22 - take flights to HTI
Feb 22 - WP status rolled over
Mar 22 - My son (<12) now wants to come to LHR with me next month. No Y+ seats available. J too expensive, so if he comes I will need to change my flight to Y and add him

Questions:
I don't know whether my WP status rolled over because I took the flights to HTI (that were booked and ticketed after 11 Aug 21, but on a PNR created before then) or because of the Y+ flight in the system for travel pre 30 June. Has anyone had any clarity on using flight credits to obtain status extension?
I'm concerned that if I cancel my Y+ flight and rebook 2x Y I'll lose the PNR that is *actually* responsible for my status extension. Losing that would be a disaster.
If I cancel and rebook, the booking date for the new flight will be after my membership year end (although still for travel by 30 June). Technically that would not comply with the terms of the extension, even though Qantas has already rolled over WP status.
Can I downgrade my flight from Y+ to Y and add my son while still retaining the existing PNR to avoid any risk of breaching the status extension terms?
I can see 4 hours on hold to Qantas to sort this out in my future, but would appreciate any reassurance that it will be worthwhile!

Look at the bright side: as WP, you won’t be on hold for 4 hours!

Downgrading to Y and adding son on a separate ticket sounds the most assured way to go. There might be a change fee. The tickets can then be linked. Asking QF is really the only way to find out for sure. Or can your son go on the next flight?

No one has ever posted that they have had status revoked after cancelling a flight. Perhaps no one has done it?

I am currently trying to get Qantas to reinstate my status credits that I lost at the end of my membership year in October 2021 - I did have an eligable flight booked prior to the expiry.

Presuming I do actually get the status credits reinstated - will they rollover again as long as I book another flight prior this years expiry in October 2022? Or will only status credits actually earned by flying this year roll over?

The latter. Only the ones from this membership year up to the limit will roll over.

The roll over is a recognition that you may not have been able to fly a lot this year, but still providing some reward for doing some flying this membership year.

Anyone with a March 31 expiry seeing anything on their account? Mine still says March 2022 expiry on the card and don’t have the “Congrats you’ve retained Platinum” banner yet. Maybe tomorrow?

I've got a JQ NZ domestic flight I flew last weekend (SC's and Points still to post of course) and a BNE-MEL on QF I booked earlier this week with a TravelPass voucher (new PNR)

Not sure if this has been picked up but now see this change - a good one for those ending June 2022 and not just those ending July - Dec 2022
What has changed with the status support Qantas is providing members with a status end date between January - June 2022?
We are still offering eligible members who reside in Australia or New Zealand who are unable to achieve the Status Credits needed to retain their status a 12-month status extension provided that before the end of their current Membership Year, they simply make at least one new eligible booking. Previously the booking had to be for travel before the end of June 2022, however Qantas understands that travel plans continue to be disrupted due to the pandemic and as a result we have extended the travel period until 31 December 2022.

I saw that a while back, handy having a June 30 expiry.

My membership year ends in the second half of this year and I've already booked and taken the required flight to retain status, but I understand this isn't so easy for many still.

My year has ended. Back to 0 SC - but the retain platinum for booking a single flight has worked! So now to get 4 flights and 1200 SC.

The recent sale and DSC offer has helped with that. Things are looking a lot more normal for me! I will make my 4 flights ad 1200 SC this year, all things going to plan.
