Qantas Expert Flyer Change in Loads on QF93

Hi all,

I'll be on QF93 from MEL-LAX on the 29th in just under 2 weeks from now.

I had a look at the loads on expert flyer yesterday, showing empty in all economy fare classes except for Y which had 3 seats left.

Had a look back today, and most of the fare buckets have been refilled with seats?

How does this happen? I was under the impression that if it was showing as 3Y remaining, there were literally three economy seats left?

I've attached two screenshots from both dates for reference.

They may have decided that F/J are empty enough that they can afford to oversell Y (and bump high-status pax up if Y does oversell).

expertflyer reflects the commercial availability of seats on the flight which won't necessarily match the actual number of seats left or class of travel. as opusman states its highly likely that QF will sell more economy seats at the highest prices and then bump up pax to higher classes (more likely to fly empty) as this will get them the best yields (read: profit) for these seats.

All of what has been said so far is true. There's also a possibility that a large number of passengers cancelled their tickets or moved to another flight between your first and second check of the loads.

Agree though, that's quite a difference.

It could be as little as 6 extra seats as indicated by the Y3->Y9.

Additionally, either 3 pax in PE have changed plans, or QF is expecting to upgrade/rearrange three W class pax before departure.

Thanks all- I had a look again and it is showing all fare buckets for economy including Y as 0!
Doesn't even give the option to take QF93 on the 29th.. I assume it is now fully booked.

I think it's pretty safe to say its going to be a full flight...

That seems to indicate that they are not going to be selling any more seats for that flight from this point. It's most likely oversold already.

I suspect it has something to do with Thanksgiving.

They tried to install seats on the roof of the plane, but decided that it won't be working by the time the flight takes off so now removed all seats from sale.
