Qantas / Emirates tie up (Partnership inc. Codeshare, Status)

I think we are going to be messing around with our July bookings because of this. We are flying Venice-Dubai-Singapore with Emirates simply so we could fly (from connecting Europe flight) Singapore into Australia to use points. Only reason for the Dubai-Sing leg. I am guessing Q might now ask us to fly Dubai - Adl which means we have purchased an unnecessary Dub-Sing leg in Bus Class.

OK, just repriced this itinerary (Sin-DBX-Ist-Ven-DBX-Sin) in Bus Class and removing the DBX-Sin last sector, the cost went from Sing$7400 to Sin$23000! Yikes.

No idea why you would change the flights. Qantas might ask you to change (but doubt they would) and you can tell them No.

Will QF FF be able to seek points upgrades on DXB-xx_ legs operated by EK? Would be very frustrating only being able to upgrade to DXB.

The hordes of mindless Australians who cough and moan about protecting Australian jobs and businesses but still think they should pay $1500 for a return ticket to London are the reason Qantas International is dead in the water.

I'll be shifting my business to British Airways and enjoying the daily jumbo service to LHR, as will all other tasteful people.

To the tourist masses - enjoy the shopping in Dubai.

Ugh.

BA <shiver> I think CX and SQ are much more likely to pick up any disaffected travellers - not that there are likely to be many I think

Good to know when this will actually be live in the GDS. AS it still lets customers book QF1/2/9/10 flights to LHR via SIN.

Clearly they cannot offer it until it has been approved. Though I would hope if you tried to book say SYD-SIN-LHR now it would advise of a possible change.

Double daily from where?

I can understand the codeshare has to be approved, but the direct services and interline booking with the EK code on the other sectors though shouldn't have to be?

How on earth you can "enjoy" BA's service is beyond me. They are a serious bunch of prawns that have been left in the sun for days on end.

Personally at this stage with a lack of fine detail available I am optimistic and I look forward to not having to go anywhere near heathrow again.

Nice one QF/EK

GDS loadings occur before approval with all airlines, often with an * though. Good example was JQ into Japan ex Manilla, where the first few services were cancelled due to approval being delayed.

Qantas is still flying two services daily to LHR. If you really want to avoid Dubai, then ok - change to BA to get to London. However, if your final destination is somewhere other than London that Emirates actually flies to, then this is a great result.

I flew to Lisbon last year via LHR - not only did I waste half a day with an unnecessary stopover, BA also misplaced my bag for 5 days. This Emirates tie up is far more preferable.

I think it is a great move by Qantas - they seem to get a lot more out of it than Emirates.

Booking a bunch of refundable flights including xASA's to FRA and LHR for post BA JSA, just to see what the eventual rerouting is like. From an SC perspective, anything with FRA would see an increase. And what might LHR-SIN in F land you in?

Qantas + EK

A few things will come out of this tie up, Lounge access to EK lounges is if you fly Buisness class or higher, what about QC members?, skyward points expire, not like QFF points,be interesting to see if these points get sorted.

We wouldn't change but given Qantas said they were changing schedules to maximise in and out times, thought they may try shift us to Dubai.
