Not sure if this is new but the latest QF email for a sale has third party advertising.

One of our members thought such ads on a website was so LCC, wonder what the opinion is when they are in the emails!

Screams low cost carrier to me, then again I am not surprised

Not a great look, With things like this I usually make a point of not buying these brands.

The advertising would probably work very well.

Going to a qualified opt-in list from a 'trusted' brand name (Qantas).

The advertiser.

Although I would consider the brand (in this case, Qantas) the more guilty party, as it is the one that has agreed to carry the ad.

(Not that it bothers me one way or the other - I have developed some filters over time to just block these things out....)

I'm not offended. Had a look at the hotel offers and liked the look of QT Gold Coast. May not have come across it otherwise

Thanks for the troll :)

Virgin is a LCC attempting to be a full service carrier, and charging full service pricing, but failing to deliver on many levels, ranging from lounges to the on-board experience.

That aside, yep first time I have noticed it on QFF as well and it does look cheap/LCC as well

Seems that Qantas are following Virgin :P

But Virgin have yet to spam us with third party ads as part of their emails, so who is following whom in that context?

From a legal perspective I dont believe inferred consent covers third part ads as part of an email!

IME virgin do not charge full service pricing.

Stupid question, but are you sure its not an advertising window/box placed by your email client?

The screen shot was the internet version of the same email, negating any possibility of that by taking the email client out of the equation. I have to admit I cannot think of another email I get that has third party ads in it.

That's what I thought as well, but it's part of the Qantas email :(

Oh yes they do, and of course price varies depending on the day/flight/specials....

MEL-Syd - Random Date - Tue 17th October
QF $99 to $289
VA $89 to $229 with baggage and of course no food
Tiger $57.95 with baggage

Tiger is the LCC with LCC pricing

This can be replicated for many other flights days/destinations, and pretty much all on here would agree that Virgin charge full service pricing now as they have improved their service offerings.

The advertising doesn't even work well. Clicking on the one in the latest red-e-mail (which is for Coach), just dumps me on the home page for a mob called Adtech.
