Qantas Economy Plus Launching Feb 2026

This popped up on my Facebook.

According to it, all 737s are done now and 330s to dtwrt later in the year.

Do we know if they’ll do all A330s? I just read something that implied Y+ is coming as part of the refresh but isn’t that limited to 10x A332s?

The seat maps are yet to be updated so only the AY aircraft show the existing extra legroom seats.

Good question.

I see they're still blocking the bulkhead seats for Plats. That being the case, I'm happy to continue booking Scoot+ Row 1 (instead of Qantas) to SIN.

I was surprised on an ADL-AKL return trip last weekend to see that the upgrade costs were the same as if I were flying to Melbourne. I waited as a LTG until checkin time and managed to score row 5 both times. The extra room was especially appreciated on the four and half hour return flight - though I think the crew should do a second drinks service on this flight, particularly westbound.

TIP: when they’re clearing rubbish, politely ask “Any chance of another?”. They sometimes have them there and then but will bring back some.

I had a shadow next to 4F yesterday afternoon and it stuck, with a few empty middle seats behind me too. Looking promising for 4A tomorrow morning too, except for the QF bean counters who might be crying into their chardonnay. Be interesting to see if the blocks in row 4 stick, and I'm not about to take up the upgrade they're flogging at me.
The row 4 shadows didn’t stick, and 4B and 4C next to me boarded as the very last, indicating they hadn’t paid for group 2 . The many vacant A-B Y+ seats behind me filled up at the last minute, as did the windows on the other side.

Looks like the way to punt on a Y+ seat for free without status is to checkin last minute at the airport. They only started being allocated once the rear of the cabin was completely full.

Or book a flight that gets cancelled.

It’s possible that they were off duty staff on standby. A few times when EF has shown an empty seat next to me until the last minute I’ve observed crew interactions that suggest staff travel.

Rebooked missed connections might also end up scoring row four for free, sans-status.

But yeah I guess you can’t rule out people rolling up to the airport having not checked in. Presumably the same happens on JQ with their unallocated upfront seats if that’s all that’s left on a full flight.
