Qantas Economy Plus Launching Feb 2026

We through Y from AKLSYD yesterday.. we are both WP and were automatically seated in 5B and 5C. We switched to 5A and 5C. On boarding we noticed that the division between business and economy has been removed. Row 4 has a generous amount of legroom but still has the issue of the entertainment screens that can’t be used during takeoff. We found row 5 to have a really generous amount of legroom. It was also noticeable that there were more empty seats towards the front of the plane, not like previous flights where the front was packed and there were empty rows at the back. I have seen this done on American Airlines and in New Zealand where they offer slightly more legroom for a small premium charge or free for frequent fliers.. I think it’s a nice bonus to be offered and if you don’t like the price there is no difference in your seat from what you used to be able to get.,
I like what Qantas has done

Definitely more room on the plane I was on. I could comfortably leave my window seat without the passenger beside me moving their legs. You can even tell the overhead PSU is more forward then it used to be.
Interesting. Between this, the extra room in Row 4, and of course the extra 4" in all those plus rows, I'm surprised they were able to achieve all this by just removing one row. They definitely didn't need to adjust Row 1 J.

Based on the persons knee in the photo and how close the fold up tv is to the seat infront It looks like less legroom in row 4 then on the other configurations where you can walk around the aisle passenger. Possibly more than one configuration? One with more room in row 1 and one with more in row 4 as I agree not sure they could manage that much room in row 1 and row 4 with just one row of seats.

There is certainly no less room in row 4. And taking down the J divider changes the appearance. But now my legs are happy in seat 5 with IFE available from boarding on a small scratched screen

So it sounds like on this config the extra room has been given to row 1 then and row 4 left the same. Seems strange? Both of the aircraft appear to be the bsi models so maybe something to do with that.
