Qantas Economy Plus Launching Feb 2026

Looks like they're starting to sell economy plus. The seats which I'd selected in row 8 on the 738 are now showing as chargeable ($35 for MEL-SYD; $74 for PER-MEL).

Here's hoping my existing selections in row 8 stick...
I had a look at some upcoming bookings:

737 - WP can select row 5 onwards for free
A220 - WP still charged to select Y+
A321XLR - WP can select row 6 onwards for free

Row 5 and 6 appear to be blocked for NB on the 737.

I can confirm the 737 with Y+. That's opened up during the course of today.

No visible change with old config (ie row 4/5 blocked outside T-80).

Just booked a flight for my mum and went to select a seat and sure enough they’re selling it. Also rows 10,11,14 and 15 being sold as “preferred,” now on the 737.

I also have a future booking on an A330 (AY metal) and the second row of whY back to the loos (Rows 32 to 43) are now showing "Preferred Seating" for the window/aisle pairs. Free of charge for WP.

The centre four in Rows 32 to 36(?) are still showing "Extra Legroom" (for free as WP).

Also noticed that my booking in row 48 (in whY too) on a 789 from CDG to PER is showing as preferred seating. Many changes afoot in Qantas' seat selection rules it seems.

Being a WP, this is what I see for a Trans Tasman flight.

Previously I could select row 4 at a cost on this booking. Now I cant select. Presumably T-80.

The initial announcment was seats will still be available to select at no cost at T-24 doing OLCI?

Will seats still be available to select at no cost at T-24 doing OLCI?
Given in the press release QF said Y+ is free for gold from 24 hours before, when OLCI opens I would assume not.IMG_6656.jpeg

As a tall person I'm taking a middle Row 4 seat over aisle any time (I also prefer window to aisle).
So middle Plus seats are definitely being taken for me.

a lot of peoples brains work differently to yours and mine though! As I have seen time and again when my middle seat free vanishes near the front with aisles available behind

So you’re the one sitting next to @Aussie_flyer ? 😂

TBH, I shake my head when I can see someone has taken a forward middle seat when there are entire empty rows a few back. 🤷‍♂️

Not just TT but across the pacific on 737s. Now Row 4 has vanished as a cost seat but I'll stick with my extra legroom row 5.
