For less full flights (rare as it is to see them these day), I’d expect to see a few middle seats blocked. Which will be a nice perk if it happens.I'd think on many flights it will be filled by payers and P/P1 well before check-in, and Gold will be lucky to get a seat let alone anyone else.
generally speaking that is likely to happen. Also because theres Plat shadows that stick even when the plane is 90% full.I wonder if the check-in seat allocation algorithm will prioritise filling Y before Y+.
I can't imagine QF changing the 737s to 16J. Its just an awkward number.
Well , I will find out in early Feb, as I am flying to points north.Urghhhh… I’ve been spoiled by economy extra. Flight yesterday supposed to be 156Y but was subbed to the standard 162Y.
It is TIGHT!![]()
We had VH-VZF on QF526 yesterday with the screens sitting in row 8. The little bit of extra space makes a huge difference.Anyone got the new config on the later VZ and XZ series aircraft (with seatback screens)

Had row 4 down to Melbourne on Monday and was very spacious. The old row 4 was already fantastic, but now it really is something else.
Yesterday's flight back to Sydney was in row 8 and certainly was pleasant. Am concerned as a gold I'll be stuck in row 9 and back going forward given the volumes plats and those likely pay for the privilege. Hate to imagine how squishy it'll be in regular economy going forward - probs like Jetstar.
Neither. So new layout is 29 row right? Looks like I'll be testing out row 6 this week.It depends greatly on the route and when you fly how platinum heavy the flights are. I’ve been on flights where Group 1 & 2 are called at the same time which would suggest there were likely not many Platinum flyers booked.
Outside the triangle routes, I think there will be some good opportunities for Gold flyers to get extra leg room seats at check-in, but we will see.
I have Platinum at the moment, but realistically I won’t be able to keep that indefinitely.
