Qantas double status credits: Register & book between 12-18 March 2025

Have heard through the grapevine they are considering a DSC promo for all North American flights in October given the lower demand and weakening AUD. Watch this space...

AUD has appreciated verse the USD since the start of the year...

Still slightly down on this time last year. Went down to 60c and expected to be around the same in 12 months time.

Actually dipped below 59c I believe at one point this year. Hence I said appreciated since the start of the year. It's also a lot down based on other historical times, but irrelevant to the point I was making.

Expected to be at 60c in 12 months time? Really? Expected by who? Confident enough to buy up USD now and sell again in 12 months time to profit?

Apologies meant expected to be around the same as it is now (not 60c) in 12 months time. Anyway, not here to discuss currency fluctuations 😂, just passing on information I've heard.

Hi Ade, now the question is since the normal points/SC were manually processed.
Am I now in the awkward position to wait for 8 weeks for DSC?
Sorry missed this. I'd say given that your normal SC were manually processed, DSC would also follow suit. So I would think 8 weeks, but could be soon too. I have had instances where, when I requested ORC, both original and DSC credited almost instantly and there have been instances where the SC's took their sweet time.

Have the QF systems' testers been slack again? Or have the terms been enhanced?
We’re sorry to let you know that we’ve had to make a change to your flight QF9097 to QZY. We understand this may have a significant impact to your original itinerary, so we have included your new flight details and additional options below for your review.
Received two emails corresponding to the two "gift cards" I purchased during the DSC promotion.
Times changed from 0900-1200 to 2300-2359 both on Mar 14 2026 (see change in validity terms)

At least I need to book some upcoming wandering
Fred

PS And I noticed these new "additions" to the terms
  • This Flight Credit or voucher can't be used online. You can "contact us (link removed)" for assistance. (15104)
  • Gift vouchers are valid for three years from date of issue. Not withstanding this, gift vouchers which have been:
    • issued for free to a customer for any reason,
    • supplied as part of a customer loyalty or employee rewards program, or
    • supplied as part of a marketing promotion as a bonus to the purchase of a good or service are not subject to the three year expiry period and will have the expiry periods advertised in connection with the relevant gift voucher at the time it was issued

I received that too and promptly deleted it.

Don't think it was deliberate... I suspect they'll fix it soon or they'll be getting a lot of calls.
I really hope it'll be fixed/revert to how it was before soon.

I also can't help but wonder if there is something more sinister afoot re gift vouchers and double status credit promos...

Old Mr Pineapple received the cryptic QZW-QZY email too, and was confused. This one related to a gift card present he bought us at Christmas in 2023 which is not yet used. Appears to be a general gift card snafu and unrelated to DSCs.

Been trawling this forum and other places, but haven't heard a definite answer yet.

Scenario: I booked a flex ARN-LHR-SIN during the last Double SC (March 2025) promotion booking period, for travel with the promotion travel period.

I want to "extend" this booking, changing dates and adding segments, to still all be within the promotion travel period.

So ideally ARN-LHR-SIN-MEL-SIN-LHR-ARN or similar, or just ARN-LHR-SIN-MEL if the former isn't possible.

It has been suggested that changing the routing of a booking automatically places the booking into a flight credit for a very short time, thus rendering the whole booking unable to get DSCs according to the new T and C?:

Will I earn double Qantas Points or double Status Credits if I make a booking using flight credits?

Yes, bookings made during the promotional period using flight credits issued prior to 12 March 2025 are eligible for this offer. Flight credits issued on or after 12 March 2025 will not be eligible for this offer. Any bookings made using flight credits outside of the window 12 March 2025 to 18 March 2025 will also not be eligible.

Any thoughts?

Call them to make the change and it should be fine - I've changed a couple of flights already and have received DSCs for each.
Agree with @Flyerwin; you'll be fine. So long as the booking reference / PNR is retained, then any flights which are eligible within that 'container' should still attract the DSCs. A reminder that this only applies to QF marketed and operated flights on the booking (incl. the wet leased AY birds, when they operate).

Cheers,
Matt.
