Qantas double status credits OR double points offer [book 23-28 March 2023]

If I were to book a classic award flight as PC, then change the date at a later time would it still count for DSC (assuming it's inside the offer window still?)

Changing bookings are covered in the T&Cs:

If you cancel your initial qualifying booking or change it to be outside the promotional period, the double Qantas Points or double Status Credits offer will not apply

Yep - but it only mentions changing to outside the promotional period so should be all good.

Oh absolutely. I'd only book a flight I need/want to take, in which case I'd take the points.

But certainly not going on a "points run" - I don't think that's a thing!

Not sure if you have booked flex fares, I always cancel and rebook during the window for any flex fares I have in the system and I rebook to qualify as long as there isn't a fare difference.

Most of my flying is with other oneworld carriers.

I only have one revenue QF booking and that's through a TA as it's on the same PNR as a HA flight.

I've got a couple of QFi awards but I'm not touching those.

No, you’d have ro cancel and rebook. You need a new PNR (booking reference) for it to qualify.

Cancelling and requesting credit (to minimise cancellation costs) appears to be risky, as the flight website info says:

"Only fares you can book with your Flight Credit will be shown when redeeming it. Lower fares may be available on qantas.com using a different payment method."

That sounds as though the flight credit rebooking system can just charge randomly high fares.

Has this language been there in the past? It seems to be contradictory to what we've long thought, that cancelling a booking but keeping the PNR alive and then booking something later (booking outside the five-day period but travelling during the promotional period) will keep the DSCs.

It's not new, I can see the exact wording on a DSC offer from March 2021.

Yeah it's strange wording. I think either
1. They mean "if your booking is cancelled, you will not get DSC" (well obviously...)
2. They intend to void DSC if cancelled to flight credit and rebooked, but in practice this hasn't been implemented in their IT system.

If you are maintaining the PNR I'd say you've cancelled the flights, not the booking.

As mentioned a couple of posts above, this clause has been in previous DSC T&C's. The way I would break this clause apart is:

- Cancel the booking - no DSC
- Change the booking, new flights are outside of the promotional window - no DSC
- Change the booking, new flights are within the promotional window - yes DSC

And this matches my experience in previous years for both revenue booking and Classic Reward bookings as a PC+ member.

I agree it seems odd to state the obvious. I certainly hope it's not point two and we've been slipping through the cracks that could be filled in at any moment.

That makes sense for sure and also matches my previous experience. However, I think there's room for interpretation and that's what worries me.

I like that logic. The "initial qualifying booking" part concerns me, though.

Although considering you can use a flight credit from outside the promo window, perhaps they've changed the way flight credits count.

Perhaps it doesn't count if you convert it to flight credit.

I probably wouldn't be relying on it.

Yeah, but flight credits (from before the promo period) worked last year too, and yet changed flights from last year were OK (did it myself), so who knows...

I feel all this discussion around T&Cs is irrelevant.

The intent of the terms is clear. If you want to book and then cancel and rebook using the credit after 28 March - you just have to accept the risk that Qantas might have sorted its IT systems.

If we book a FinAir RWT do the QF operated flights count? ( ie QF3) or is this seen as not marketed by QF

QF metal flights on a QF flight number booked during the promo period will get DSC.
