Hi, an apology if this has been asked before.

I usually fly internationally however on Sunday I am flying Per - Mel Qantas business class (j) and was wondering whether I am able to access the lounge (if I can’t there is no point arriving to early is there?)?

I know whenever I fly internationally you can access the lounge however was unsure whether the domestic lounge was only for QC members.

Thanks in advance for you help. Oh and if you have any suggestions for my flight feel free to pass them on, I am flying the 737-800 there and 767 home.

Welcome to AFF. :D :D :D

Unless you are a QC member or Status Gold or above you have no QC access entitlements.

Re suggestions for your flight. I'd swap the 738 for an A330 or a 767 if at all possible. The 738s are very cosy so if you are tall then it won't be comfortable. The only possible advantage of arriving early is to try for an exit row which will give you some more room.

Good luck. 8) 8)

Thanks for the reply and welcome, I was going to change to one of the A330 flights however it is a business trip and the 737 and 767 flights are the more suitable times.

So the business class seats on the 737-8 and 767 are also quite cosy? Are the front rows any better (I had a look at the seat map however it can be hard to tell)?

Unfortunately I only joined the FF program 2 weeks ago so I am still a bit of a way away from gold or plat.

Oops..... Would probably help if I read your post correctly. Missed that you are in 'J'. ... Translation is that I should go to bed now :!:

Only comment then is that front row 'J' on the 767 doesn't have enough legroom due the bulkhead. I seem to recall (although I'm not sure) that the window is an over the shoulder job. 738 will be OK. Personal thing, I just don't like them!

Thanks for your help and I generally like the bigger planes however getting to my destination at a comfortable time is more important in this instance.

Definitely a pity you don't get access to the lounge seeing how much extra the tickets cost.

You could post your flight times and some kind soul might take you in as a guest. 8)

.....or stand and look lonely near the QP entrance. :(

haha I like you style!

I fly PTH - MEL on Sunday the 26th at 6:10am (QF 480)

MEL - PTH on Friday the 3rd at 12:15 (QF 769)

I wouldn't however expect anyone to take me in (music and reading can keep me occupied).
Many of my colleagues are Plat members so if I were to borrow their cards do you think I would get access?

Not sure they'd be friends for long if you got caught :!:

I certainly wouldn't go down that road.

You a probably right... I just thought because they are able to take a visitor or two into the lounge it would be alright to use the card... I probably won't bother though. Serves me right for taking so long to join the FF program!

Cheers again!

sure there is the odd random act of kindness, or someone you know might see you

but I certainly wouldnt count on getting in just by standing outside

I do them all the time, although it is mainly for people looking slightly frazzled. Mum and a small kid, for example.

AND BEFORE ANYONE SUGGESTS IT, there is NO ulterior motive, I point them towards the bar or coffee machines, and that is the last I see of them.

You Dave...ulterior motive...perish the thought and flog those who suggest it  . Not your type anyway - why would you want another brat :p

oshcom, random acts of kindness do work - like thadocta, I've been known to help people from time to time get into the QC (just ask JohnK :D ) as I generally am travelling by myself. Are any of your colleagues flying out on the same flight or similar time on the day..tag along and get in.

If you are likely to be doing many more similar flights, and you have just joined QF FF program (so have no points balance to lose) you may want to consider joining AA's FF program and undertake the AA Platinum Challenge. It would take 2 x PER-MEL-PER trips in J to achieve AA Platinum status, which gives you OneWorld Sapphire status and hence access to Qantas Club lounges anytime you are flying with Qantas or any OneWorld airline including Qantas domestic flights.

You will need to undertake the 2 return trips within 3 months. Can use any OneWorld flight to achieve the 10,000 qualifying miles required. PER-MEl is 1681 miles, and in J (as wells as B, Y, D, I) you get 1.5 Elite Qualifying Miles per mile flown, so that is 2521 EQM so is 1/4 of the way to the 10,000 needed to attain Candy Thief status.

Also note that Perth is PER. PTH is Port Heiden in USA.

Yes Lindsay you are a very kind person. I am lucky to have been able to visit the BNE F lounge. Thank you. :D

I wonder whether you would have done the same if I was just standing outside the BNE F lounge looking lost. Methinks not. :(

No I am travelling on my own.... Ahh well!!
It's not all that bad, like I said; music reading and well even the laptop can keep me amused.

Thanks I will def. consider that however I am hoping that it won't take to long and I will be Gold Class with QF before I know it and I am working towards obtaining gold status for life..... Obviously a long way to go :p

I might actually look into it now!! :D
