A388 VH-OQH was ex LAX as QF12 with gate arrival on Saturday 29 August occurring at 0734 hours, only four minutes late.

It is to operate QF63, the 0935 hours SYD-JNB but expected pushback has been delayed by 70 minutes to 1045 hours.

Sister aircraft -OQL is on QF2, the Friday 28 2050 hours mid evening redeye from LHR down to SIN airborne at 2223 hours. Gate arrival today should be about 1813 hours, 43 minutes late, making a punctual arrival in Sydney a bit more challenging for Sunday 30.

The other ex-London QFi departure on 28 August, QF10 down to PER, was also delayed with this 1155 hours scheduled flight not taking off until 1351. On Saturday 29, PER gate arrival looks to be 1325 hours, 100 minutes late.

QF63 on Saturday 29 August ended up not taking off until 1304 hours from SYD, so JNB gate arrival should be 1858 hours, 153 minutes late for A388 VH-OQH.

This will delay the timetabled 1845 hours JNB-SYD (QF64) to a 2045 hours or later pushback. Going by some recent days, it may pick up about 45 minutes of the deficit en route.

Continuing with Saturday 29 August, QF21 (1335 hours MEL-DFW, B789 VH-ZNA) was in the sky at 1712 hours so same day arrival becomes 1739 hours, 174 minutes late.

The delay was because this morning, the aircraft arrived ex AKL and JFK into Sydney at 1147 hours, 207 minutes late as QF4. -ZNA then took off from SYD at 1326 hours as empty flight QF6005, arriving in MEL at 1437 hours. Had QF4 been punctual, this move would have worked well.

Having to shuffle B789s between MEL and SYD can't be helped because 'the 21' and 'the 22' are not daily, and SYD is the 'depot' with MEL and other Australian airports such as PER just 'outstations' for the 789 fleet.

On Saturday 29 August, QF63 arrived at JNB at 1840 hours, 135 minutes behind schedule. A388 VH-OQH then took off on QF64 at 2141 hours with Sunday 30 gate arrival in SYD estimated as 136 minutes late at 1711 late this afternoon.

A332 VH-EBS has been in MEL since late on Saturday night, but its Sunday 30 task, the 0935 hours MEL-NRT QF79 is not expected to push back until 1130. As a result, tonight's QF80 from NRT back down to MEL (the 2025 hours) is forecast to depart at 2150.

QF81 (Sunday 30's 1020 hours SYD up to SIN, A388 VH-OQL) took off at 1129 so gate arrival is likely at 1726 hours, 31 late.

B789 VH-ZND on 'the 27' took off at 1301 hours with gate arrival suggested as 1130 hours same day, 40 minutes late. While wind conditions and flight paths vary from day to day, based on recent running times this FR24 delay estimate seems excessive. The QF flight status page has fairly recently changed to a different display, and doesn't appear to be as efficiently updated as the previous verion, so I couldn't compare its view.

Continuing with Sunday 30 August, A332 VH-EBD is operating the 1225 hours lunchtime SYD-MNL (QF19) that wasn't in the sky until 1335. Arrival at gate tonight should be about 1925 hours, 35 minutes late. Mostly, 'the 19' is an A333 not an A332.

On Monday 31 August, A332 VH-QPE on QF127 (1010 hours SYD up to HKG) wasn't airborne until 1140. Gate arrival should be approximately 1840 in the early evening, 45 minutes late.

A332 VH-EBQ is operating QF79 (0935 hours MEL-NRT) for the second consecutive day. Yesterday's arrived Narita at 2046 hours, 106 minutes late: the return QF80 redeye arrived in MEL this morning at 0927 hours, 107 late. Consequently, QF79 did not take off until 1147 so the forecast 2038 hours arrival at gate will be 98 minutes behind schedule.

I strongly think any flight that departs SYD between 8.30am and 11.30am each day has a high chance of delay due to air traffic control. I just think this is unacceptable and heads must roll.

Arriving at 1840 with taxiing to gate… I expect significant delay in the return flight… worse if it is the 128 return with schedule ETD @ 1930 compared to 30 to MEL @ 2005

Hey - there was an update on QF 80 why it was delayed out of NRT!!

It translate to this:

“I was flying from Tokyo to Melbourne when, just before takeoff, I was notified that there was a problem with the cabin door. A group of engineers came in and started fiddling with it. I've always had bad luck when traveling long distances, so I wasn't surprised and happily reported it. But my poor, timid wife was genuinely terrified and cried, thinking she was going to be separated from me forever. When the engineers fixed the emergency door, the entire cabin erupted in applause.”
