Saturday 18 July's QF80 (A333 VH-QPA) was the 2025 hours NRT-MEL airborne at 2054, more or less punctual. However it diverted to BNE (medical?) and was airborne from there at 0918 on Sunday 19 July with MEL gate arrival becoming a forecast 1123 hours, 223 minutes late.

In consequence, since it is forming its own, QF79, the 0935 hours MEL-NRT is expected to optimistically depart at 1230 hours. 1300 hours or later is probably more realistic.

Sister aircraft -QPD arrived in MEL at 0726 on Sunday 19, only six minutes late as QF30 from HKG overnight.

It is also forming its own with QF29, the 1015 hours MEL-HKG put back to a forecast 1300 hours departure this afternoon. Possibly another example as to how these long in the tooth A333s increasingly require maintenance3/repairs at short notice, @tomlee1986 ?

Tonight's QF30 (to MEL) and QF128 (to SYD) are both showing as punctual but this is impossible.

QF10 from LHR to PER (B789 VH-ZNF) should arrive on Sunday at about 1303 hours, 68 minutes late as on Saturday this 1155 hours scheduled departure wasn't in the sky until 1300 hours.

As sometimes happens with FR24, it has two lines devoted to the QF93 (0945 hours MEL-LAX) that is operated by B789 VH-ZNL and expected to arrive early in Los Angeles. The second line claims it won't depart Melbourne until 2336 hours tonight. I don't know why this duplication occurs.

1300 departure - that could mean parts shipped from SYD to MEL for replacement of parts??

And because 127 to HKG took off on time from SYD - should be only 1 having the delay… not both of the 2 aircrafts- the SYD one is QPF, but QPD is the one with NO wifi installed - I wonder how long QFi will keep it?!

Continuing with Sunday 19 July, QF79 (0935 hours MEL up to NRT) departed at 1313 hours, taking off at 1328 with A333 VH-QPA. Expected gate arrival time becomes about 2212 hours, 182 minutes late.

IIRC the Narita airport, Japan curfew only allows takeoffs and landings between 2300 and 0000 hours in exceptional circumstances. I assume QFi will somehow be able to meet this criteria as it is most unlikely it could take off prior to 2300 Japan time tonight, even though aircraft turnarounds in the Land of the Rising Sun are usually extremely efficient.

Looking at the FlightAware site, on Saturday 18 July QF2076, the 1845 hours from MEL due at Mildura at 2005 made a couple of attempts to land. At a guess, the airport was fogged in.

QF1403 this morning (if I have the flight number correct) was the 0855 hours SYD-MQL timetabled to arrive at 1055. Highly likely it was a similar case of fog. I've been to enough rural locations in Oz to see fog only clearing at c.1030-1130 hours.

Unfortunately, assuming the flight operates and isn't cancelled, gate arrival in HKG should be after midnight. On my visits I've never had a substantial delay but from memory, the important airport train service doesn't operate at 0100 in the small hours.

Unfortunately, assuming the flight operates and isn't cancelled, gate arrival in HKG should be after midnight. On my visits I've never had a substantial delay but from memory, the important airport train service doesn't operate at 0100 in the small hours.

The train departs round midnight yes… but there are late night buses

As expected, presumably no spare suitable aircraft to take over the flight (assuming it's a problem with the A333).

Then this will cascade to tomorrow for QF128 - according to information, it is 0315 HKG departure!!!

Above, I speculated that due to the very late QF79 from MEL to NRT on Sunday 19 July (arriving at an estimated 2220 hours tonight with a curfew operative at Narita from 2300 hours), QF80 may be able to still depart.

As it turns out, QF80 NRT to MEL tonight is unaffected (being formed by QF61 from BNE).

Instead, QF62, the scheduled 2145 hours NRT-BNE has been delayed to depart Tokyo at 1430 mid afternoon on Monday 20 July, 885 minutes late. This should mean a BNE arrival about 2359-0030 on Monday 20-Tuesday 21. Loads of missed connections. No airport train to Brisbane's CBD or Gold Coast.

A333 VH-QPD on Sunday 19 July's QF29 (MEL to HKG) departed at 1828 hours, 493 minutes late and was airborne at 1844 hours.

Expected gate arrival becomes 0153 hours on Monday 20, 478 minutes late.

If the arrival time doesn't improve, 0315 hours as a suggested pushback for QF128 (HKG to SYD) seems somewhat optimistic. 0330 to 0345 may be more realistic, @tomlee1986 .

This move makes more sense from a network and big picture perspective the NRT - BNE route has always been a lot lower on demand than the MEL routes.

It'll majorly suck for everyone booked on board, but probably has lower impact comparatively. Also i do notice they swap the BNE/MEL aircrafts regularly at NRT regardless of delay as well.

actual take off time is 1844, ETD is 0148 the next morning... and this would push the return flight to SYD as 128 to almost 0400 the next morning!!
