Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Because Monday 6 July's MEL-DFW QF21 was so late, B789 VH-ZNE as QF22 arrived back in MEL on Wednesday 8 at 0843 hours, 223 minutes late.

It is returning to DFW as another QF21, the 1335 hours had been altered to depart at 1530. By 1540, it had not taken off, and QFi was displaying a further amended 1605 hours hoped for pushback time.

Earlier today, A333 VH-QPG as the SYD-BKK QF23 was in the sky at 1102 hours, so gate arrival becomes 1732 hours, 52 late. This will delay 'the 24' back down to Sydney.

UPDATE: QF21 was airborne from MEL at 1631 hours with DFW arrival same day suggested as 1701 hours, 136 minutes tardy.

In more on Wednesday 8 July, B738 VH-XZL arrived in MEL (as QF156 ex AKL) at 1714 hours, 11 minutes early. However its last flight for the day, QF169 from MEL across to CHC is the 1840 hours delayed until at least 1950 in departure.

VH_VXD has also had a delayed day on TransTasman flights. Its morning 0915 hours QF167 from MEL to CHC did not become airborne until 1107, arriving at gate at 1610 hours, 85 minutes behind schedule. Next up was QF170 back across the ditch to Melbourne, arriving at 1859, 84 late. Last for the day is QF157, the 1830 hours dinner flight from MEL up to AKL for which pushback had been expected at 1954.

Again, this shows how these evening flights to NZ can be problematical for businessmen with early morning meetings next day. It's common for these flights ex Oz to be late, so it may mean arriving at one's accommodation well after 0200 in the 'small hours'.

A388 VH-OQL is on the Tuesday 7 July 2255 hours DFW-SYD QF8 that took off at 0047 on Wednesday 8. Arrival at gate on Thursday 9 should be about 0754 hours, 59 minutes late.
OQJ is in maintenance at the moment at LAX. So it will probably operate Wednesday’s QF12 and then OQG will return to service on Thursday as QF94.

QF's flight status now shows QF94 ex LAX on Thursday 9 July has been cancelled.

QF 767 delayed around two hours due late departure from Perth. Apparently someone did something which caused the terminal to be evacuated early this morning. This then caused a string of delays from Perth which affected the return from MEL.

On arrival there were three of us who missed our connections to The Pilbara.

QF were kind enough to book us on various ~05xx departures in the morning. On enquiring about Accom for this evening we were told “well, This is the airports fault not ours so you should be most great full that we re scheduled you free of charge”.

This peeved us all slightly so one of my new comrades politely pushed back and offered to ring his mates at the P1 service centre.

After a bit of back and forth we soon had hotel vouchers.
