July 4, both QF93 and QF21 cancelled.
Maybe even the team as well!!! Coming back from USASaturday 4 July saw B789 VH-ZND operating empty from SYD to MEL as QF6001, with gate arrival at 1155 hours, 35 late. It was meant to operate QF21, the 1335 hours MEL-DFW long haul, but this was cancelled. -ZND remains in Melbourne.
4 July's QF22 DFW-MEL is naturally also cancelled.
QFi's USA routes have been taking a beating with quite a few cancellations. It'd be interesting to know if any downcast Socceroos fans have been affected.
Tue 7th for the SIN -SYD leg in case anyone is confused. That said cancellation notice went out already this morning. (Wife got the notification for the SIN - SYD. We got her moved to QF82 instead).Because QF1 is cancelled ex Sydney today (5 July), the Monday 6 July QF2 LHR-SIN-SYD is also getting the boot.

luckily this engine issue was found on the ground instead in the air - we don't need a repeat of QF 32 again'The Australian' is reporting that the cancellation of QF2 (LHR-SIN-SYD) on Friday 3 July (A388 VH-OQG) was due to the plane requiring an unscheduled engine replacement after arriving in London. Apparently a replacement engine was airlifted from Los Angeles to London.
As noted above, this also led to QF1 SYD-SIN-LHR ex Sydney today also being cancelled. QF2 ex LHR on Monday 6 July is also not running.
What happened to the ‘spare’ a380 that was supposed to step in and fix all these problems?

A380 is just the start - I am thinking of the A330 fleet - remember those HKG delays we had and it’s happening again??Good point, although that was always to be based in Sydney, so as always, hard to immediately 'fix' a problem that occurs in London or elsewhere.
QFi also recently operated a chartered A380 for the Exclusive Brethren cult to London. You'd really think that with all the negative publicity A380 breakdowns can bring, the airline would decline such charters so it would indeed have an available spare.
Others may disagree, but QFi seems to be trying to do too much with too few aircraft, though I acknowledge having a spare is a major capital cost for any airline (although the A380s must surely be fully depreciated or close to that in 2026).
OQI is sitting in maintenance with the wing problem. What happened to the ‘spare’ a380 that was supposed to step in and fix all these problems?
Also didn't another a380 run into problems at LAX?
Yes i know, i was replying to the other post about "the spare".If you look above, there've been multiple A380 cancellations on the USA routes in the last few days. I won't repeat them here.
Isn’t that exactly what it’s there for? If the QF2 was cancelled ex LHR, the QF 1 should have been able to fly as planned with the ‘spare’.Good point, although that was always to be based in Sydney, so as always, hard to immediately 'fix' a problem that occurs in London or elsewhere.
