Qantas Delays/Cancellations

QF11 left late and just did a wonderful fly-past over Balmoral beach at around 4000+ ft

QF7 on Saturday 10 January from SYD to DFW was changed again, being expected to depart at 2010. As at 2020, it hadn't become airborne.

UPDATE: A388 VH-OQB took off at 2046 hours. FR24 claims arrival at gate becomes 2145, 555 minutes late. This seems a big overestimate. I've noticed recently that initially, FR24 can exaggerate delays for forecast arrivals, especially the longer distance flights. Often it corrects this during the flight. I don't know why the apparent mistake.

The only thing that I can think of is perhaps QF have given up on waitng for things to cool down sufficiently and are now going to do a fuel stop somewhere?

On Sunday 11 January 2026, QF79, the 0925 hours MEL-NRT (A333 VH-QPE) is estimated to shortly depart 65 minutes late at 1030 hours.

The 0930 hours SYD-JNB (QF63, A388 VH-OQK) is 'identical' in that its pushback should be at 1035, also 65 late.

UPDATE: QF63 took off at 1120 hours with gate arrival in JNB estimated as 1603 hours, 63 late.

Saturday nights QF12 leaving Sunday 0930.

The overnight delayed QF12 took off from LAX with A388 VH-OQH at 1005 hours on Sunday 11 January, with gate arrival in SYD on Monday 12 estimated as 1902 hours, 697 minutes late.

Sister -OQB arrived SYD this morning at 0746 hours, 51 minutes late as QF8 from distant DFW.

Another A380, -OQK is on QF64 from JNB to SYD that's forecast to arrive at its gate this afternoon at 1535 hours, 65 minutes tardy.

B789 VH-ZNN operated QF4 from AKL to SYD that arrived at 0857 hours, 42 minutes behind schedule.

Also on Monday 12 January 2026, QF63, the 0930 hours SYD-JNB (A388 VH-OQB) did not take off until 1106 hours. Expected gate arrival is 1546, 46 late.

'The 63', its opposite number should arrive this afternoon in SYD at about 1548 hours, 78 minutes tardy.

B789 VH-ZNN arrived AKL (ex SYD) as the first QF3 leg at 1527, 37 minutes late with the second sector to JFK forecast to push back at 1733, 38 late.

QF127 (1115 hours SYD up to HKG) took off at 1244 hours. A332 VH-EBN should have gate arrival at 1842 hours, 52 minutes behind schedule.

Not only is the 10 January LAX-departing QF12 delayed by about 697 minutes into SYD tonight (Monday 12 January) but the scheduled 11 January QF12 departure from LAX at 2125 hours is forecast to depart at 2345, 140 minutes late. QFi is claiming it will land at 0945 hours tomorrow in Sydney, so adding five minutes to taxi to the SYD gate, that would make it 145 minutes late. Often though there's effectively padding in the schedule so the aircraft picks up some time in the air.

A388 VH-OQH that arrived in SYD as QF12 at 1905 hours on Monday 12 January instead of the timetabled 0725 hours is forming QF11, the 1745 hours back to LAX.

This was to depart at 2130 but that's been put back to a 2200 hours forecast. For the sake of passengers (both ways!), let's hope it gets out tonight pre-curfew.
