Continuing with Wednesday 7 January, QF27, the 1220 hours SYD across to SCL (B789 VH_ZNF) has only just taken off - at 1522 hours. Same day arrival is forecast at 1332 hours, 157 minutes late. This is likely to delay the 1315 hours QF28 from SCL back to SYD to at least 1515 in pushback: if becoming airborne at 1530 is assumed, SYD arrival on Thursday 8 may be at approximately 1900 hours, 80 minutes late.

On Tuesday 6 January, A332 VH-EBS as QF79 (0925 hours MEL-NRT) arrived at gate at 2017 hours, 157 minutes late.

It then departed as QF80 back to MEL, taking off at 2159 with Wednesday 7 arrival becoming 0951, 126 minutes behind schedule.

Today it's returning to Japan's Narita Airport with QF79 likely to complete its taxiing in MEL by 1156, so it should very shortly be winging its way to the north. A gate arrival at around 1930 hours in Japan is likely, 110 minutes late.

A333 VH-QPJ is rostered on the scheduled 1105 hours MEL up to HKG (QF29) that was expected to push back at 1150.

From SYD to HKG (the 1115 hours QF127) we have sister aircraft -QPF that is estimated to depart at 1155 hours.

The 1220 hours SYD to SCL (QF27) has one of QFi's better punctuality records but that won't be the case today as this B789-operated flight is hoped to depart at 1445 mid afternoon.

UPDATE: QF127 with A333 VH-QPF took off at 1321 hours so gate arrival (ex SYD) in HKG should be about 1842 hours, 52 minutes late.

QF29 (MEL-HKG) was airborne at 1235 with estimated gate arrival a similar 1836 hours, 61 minutes tardy.

The QPF will be the 128 to SYD and ETD at 2020 instead of 1925, and the QPJ will operate QF 30 to MEL - estimate to be 1950 departure (which is very optimistic!)

Original landing of QPF into HKG was 1912 - must have had serious technical difficulties during 127 phrase, and caused this extreme delay back to SYD… TBH HKG is a good port for delays on A333 - CX has a lot of parts that might work on them

In more on Thursday 8 January 2026, QF79, the 0925 hours MEL up to NRT (A333 VH-QPD) did not take off until 1041 so gate arrival should be 1933, 113 minutes late. This is the third consecutive day QF79 is badly late - not 'music' to Japanese ears given with transport such as trains they are such sticklers for high speed rail that operates to the minute.

Continuing with Thursday 8 January, the 1200 'high noon' SYD-HND QF59 (A333 VH-QPE) was in the sky at 1310 so forecast arrival at 2034 this evening Japanese time will be 34 late.

'The 19' (1205 hours SYD up to MNL with -QPH) is worse, as it didn't take off until 1331 hours. A 51 minute late arrival at 1821 hours is the expectation.

A332 VH-EBK is on QF35, also a 1205 hours scheduled pushback but MEL-SIN: it was airborne at 1311 with predicted gate arrival 1741 hours, 36 late.

VH-QPL (A333) operating QF104 from HNL down to SYD should arrive at 1850, half an hour behind, a lot better than the previous four times the flight ran.
