Qantas Delays/Cancellations

On Sunday 23 November, QF103 (the evening 2010 hours SYD-HNL, A333 VH-QPL) did not take off until 2218. Arrival was at 1027 hours, 87 late.

The return QF104 also on Sunday 23 was in the sky at 1337 so Monday 24 evening arrival in Sydney should be about 2041 hours, 141 minutes behind schedule.

Sister QPB on QF29, the 1105 hours Monday MEL-HKG took to the sky at 1157 meaning gate arrival tonight at 1805, half an hour behind.

A388 VH-OQB on the Monday 24 November 2025 QF1 (scheduled at 1555 hours from SYD for SIN and then LHR) took off exactly an hour later. Lion City gate arrival should be at about 2214 hours, 69 minutes late.

B789 VH-ZNK arrived PER at 1232, only two minutes late, on Monday 24 November as QF10 from LHR.

As is often the case, it did not return to LHR last night, but instead formed the second leg of QF33, the evening 2020 hours PER-CDG that took off at 2218 hours. Paris arrival on Tuesday 25 should be about 0752 hours, 62 minutes late. Given the relatively generous turnaround allowance in Paris, QF34 in theory should be punctual.

Updating the previous post, QF1 managed to gain some time on its SYD to SIN sector on Monday 24, arriving at 2135, half an hour late. However its next leg (to LHR) did not see it take off until 0138 hours, with arrival today at gate suggested as 0722 hours, 67 late. The 23 November QF2 arrival in SIN had been about 55 minutes late so not sure if this led to retiming of the QF1.

B789 VH-ZND on QF10, the 1150 hours Monday 24 November LHR down to PER did not become airborne until 1651 hours. Arrival today (Tuesday 25) should be 1656 hours, 266 minutes late.

With storms in MEL, the airport used single runway operations for a short time around 1015 hours, using only the east-west, with aircraft taking off to the west.

QF167, the 0910 hours MEL-CHC was airborne at 1019 with B738 VH-XZO. Gate arrival is estimated as 1521 hours, 51 minutes late.

The BNE-bound QF1256 (A223 VH-4XB) was in the sky at 1012 (0920 being scheduled pushback) so arrival should be 1121 hours, 46 late.

FYI - sudden downpour around 1300 around south of Melbourne area - unsure of impact at MEL airport

In another delay for Wednesday 26 November, QF19, the 1205 hours lunchtime SYD-MNL (A333 VH-QPF) has been put back to a proposed 1400 hours departure. It will be at least an hour late arriving at the MNL gate tonight, so QF20 back overnight is likely to be tardy.

A332 VH-EBB is on QF51, the 1035 hours BNE-SIN airborne at 1114 hours with suggested at gate arrival 1702 hours, 32 late.

UPDATE: QF19 today took off from SYD at 1458, later than hoped for, with MNL gate arrival probable at about 1955 hours, 145 minutes late.

A388 VH_OQB as QF2 from LHR to SIN should arrive at approximately 1820 hours in the early evening Singapore time, 40 late.

Wednesday 26 November's QF37 from MEL to SIN - the 1650 hours with a recently (re)introduced A380 on this route - is delayed in departure until an expected 2130 hours this evening.

QF38, the 0005 hours SIN-MEL on Thursday 27 will presumably suffer a similar delay, although that's yet to display.

If the delay turns into even more, it may affect punctuality of Thursday 27's QF37 as well.

The expected delay to Wednesday 28 November's QF37 has increased, with pushback not expected until 2200 hours. SIN arrival is predicted at 0300 hours on Thursday 27.

QF38 returning is normally a just after midnight departure - 0005 hours, but is very optimistically displaying as an 0440 hours one. QFi is welcome to prove me wrong, but from observation, a 100 minute turnaround for an A380 would be unusually quick for QFi. These normally take at least two and a half hours.

This is another example of a delay that's peeving to most, but accentuated if passengers are elderly or mums and dads travelling with babies or small children. It isn't long enough for QFi to realistically provide hotel rooms, assuming sufficient were available within cooee of Changi Airport. A very uncomfortable night awaits for passengers originating in SIN or connecting from QF2 ex LHR, or other flights.

Given QF38 is not expected to arrive MEL (at gate) until about 1520 hours tomorrow afternoon, unless QFi rustles up a spare A380 from SYD and flies it down to MEL empty, QF37 on Thursday 27 will be tardy.
