Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Found out a couple weeks ago that Flightaware isn’t always up to date.

They had the diverted QF2 on its way from Baku to Singapore with a delay of just 90 mins. Everyone else was reporting the plane was on the ground overnight.

And of course it was.

So for IRROPS flightaware kind of needs to be cross-referenced with the likes of FR24 or the airline’s website.

On Wednesday 25 June 2025, QF59, the scheduled 1105 hours SYD-HND with A333 VH_QPE took off at 1243, so gate arrival should be about 2123 hours, 73 minutes behind the eight ball.

Sister QPG is on QF127 the 1020 hours SYD-HKG airborne at 1229 early this afternoon, with slated arrival becoming 1938 hours, 98 minutes late.

In a third A333 delay, QPG is operating 'the 19', the 1225 hours SYD to MNL in the sky at 1344 for suggested gate arrival 50 late at 1940 hours.

QF1 (A388 VH-OQJ) is the 1450 hours SYD-SIN-LHR up up and away at 1551 for mooted SIN gate arrival at 2157 tonight, 42 behind schedule.

QF81 from SYD to SIN has another A380 in the shape of OQL: this 1020 hours flight took off at 1131 so arrival at 1730 will be 40 minutes past the allotted.

B789 VH-ZNM that on Monday 23's QF33 PER-CDG was turned back to Perth over India (due to the Iranian attack on a USA base in Qatar) next operated the Tuesday 24 QF5 (1935 hours PER-FCO) that arrived in Rome this morning at 0650 hours, 50 behind.

A388 VH-OQK on Wednesday 25 June has the task of QF63, the 0930 hours SYD across to JNB that should arrive at gate about 1705 in the late afternoon, 45 late.

Thursday 26's QF27, the 1130 hours SYD-SCL is claimed by FR24 to be departing 70 late at 1240 hours.

Quick correction - the QPG SYD HKG should be QF127, as QF129 was to PVG and that route had ended.. :)

The diverted to Singapore QF9 (normally the Perth to London Heathrow "express") was airborne from SIN on Wednesday 25 June at 1303 this afternoon local time, with LHR arrival estimated as 1904 hours.

In the AFF forum discussing Middle Eastern flight diversions and cancellations, someone expressed concern about QFi needing to do a quick turnaround at LHR to beat the curfew, but I can't see any great cause for worry as if things go swimmingly, B789 VH-ZNE as QF10(D) could be off blocks by 2130 mid evening London time. If there is a limiting factor, it's that the flight can't presumably arrive Sydney on Friday morning prior to 0600 hours when the Sydney curfew ends.

QF10 just goes to Perth though, not Sydney?

The plane will need to return to base as there are currently 3 aircraft on that route (instead of the usual 2) due one being still well behind schedule.

If the aircraft isn’t back in Sydney by Friday morning, other routes will be impacted.
