Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Do we know why the usual QF64 is QF314? Usual QF28 is operating as QF316 and operating via AKL.
The QF314 change appeared in timetables about 4 weeks ago, I have no idea why, but its not the first time its happened.

Having arrived in Santiago with QF27 144 minutes late due to Sydney's runway issues, QF316 SCL-AKL (B789 VH-ZNL) departed Santiago 121 minutes late, and is expected to be in Auckland at 17:38 this afternoon, 83 minutes late. The onwards leg back to Sydney is showing a 50 minute departure delay (mainly by reduction of the scheduled 2 hour stop-over), and a projected arrival in Sydney at 20:30 AEST this evening, 35 minutes late.

Meanwhile the other B789 heading west bound into Auckland : VH-ZNF with QF4 JFK-AKL was 49 minutes late departing New York, and is expected to be 55 minutes late into Auckland at 05:55 tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. Currently the AKL-SYD leg timings have not been updated, still showing an 06:30 departure, however I doubt that 35 minutes will be enough time for the change over.

Monday's QF5 SYD-PER-FCO (B789 ZNK) was 80 minutes late departing Sydney, and lost time across the continent being 95 minutes late arriving in Perth. A further delay saw the onward Perth departure 124 minutes late at 00:54 AWST Teusday, with Rome arrival expected to be a 'rounded' 125 minutes late.

Updating 789nerd, on Tuesday 11 July 2023, QF4 from JFK to AKL (B789 VH-ZNF) arrived at 0603 hours, 63 minutes late, as on Sunday 9, the 1930 hours scheduled pushback became a 2053 hours takeoff at New York. The second leg, the 0630 hours AKL-SYD was airborne at 0755 local time so SYD arrival should be 0854 hours, 44 late.

Adding to 789nred's information above, QF6 from FCO down to PER, the 1050 hours, is expected to push back at 1230. VH-ZNK is the conveyance. This is because from PER to FCO last night, the 2250 hours timetabled departure saw the plane in the air at 017 hours this morning, so Rome arrival should be 1034, 104 late. It had earlier been delayed from Sydney yesterday evening, with the normal 1820 hours departure becoming takeoff at 1956 despite having been sitting in Sydney since 0617 yesterday morning.

The Monday 10 July '10' with ZNB (1155 hours ex LHR for PER) was airborne at 1323 hours so a 68 minute late arrival today is on the cards, at 1248 hours, making on time arrival in MEL tonight extremely unlikely.

The 0925 hours from MEL to DEL (QF69) seems to have a poor timetkeeping record,. Yesterday was no exception, with takeoff for A332 VH-EBM at 1145 hours resulting in arrival at 1933 hours, 113 minutes behind schedule. The redeye QF70 then took off at 2146 hours local time, so arrioval today should be at around 1414 hours, 104 minutes tardy.

This morning, A333 VH-QPB arrived in HND as QF25 (from Sydney) at 0614, 49 late. This flight has been cancelled once in the last seven days, was five minutes early arriving at gate once but on the other five occasions has been a typical 50 to 65 minutes late arriving. The major reason is that often it's formed by the almost constantly late QF104 from Honolulu. As Flyerqf has said, this should improve from late October 2023 when 'the 25' apparently becomes a B789 on a different roster.

Heavy heavy sigh. Up at 3.30am to catch the 6.05 MEL to CBR, mechanical issues, new plane scheduled 7.20, catering issues scheduled 7.45……. May beat the 8.05….. May give up and go home

B717 VH-NXH was the substitute aircraft. It has been in Melbourne since arriving at 1856 hours (36 late) as QF1554 from HBA last night. This morning, it was airborne at 0759 hours with an 0848 hours arrival, 98 minutes late, the suggestion.

The next flight, QF1514 is expected to push back 20 late at 0825 at this stage.

Tuesday's QF7 SYD-DFW (B789 VH-ZNA) was 38 minutes pushing back this afternoon, and is estimated to arrive in Dallas 35 minutes late at 16:40 CDT Tuesday.

Meanwhile the delayed QF10 LHR-PER-MEL (B789 VH-ZNB) which landed in Perth 42 minutes late, has been further delayed for a 16:00 AWST departure, 170 minutes late. The same delay holds for a Melbourne arrival at 21:30 AEST this evening.

Know why the 10 was further delayed?

Unfortunately not.

It appears that this delay may not impact on the usual flow-on flight QF93, if ZNE is free of maintenance commitments in Melbourne, having arrived with QF94 early this morning.

Edit : seems I spoke too soon, QF93 is now shown as delayed 145 minutes until 23:00 AEST. This puts the revised LAX arrival at 20:20 PST Tuesday, 155 minutes late.

Looks like the 93 has been delayed to 11pm

Looks like Dept ex PER has slipper another hour which makes me think it’s technical?

Not sure if MEL pax would have been offered transfer to a domestic flight if space availability

Continuing with Tuesday 11 July 2023, QF5 (B789 VH-ZNK) arrived at FCO's allocated gate at 1042 hours local time, 112 minutes behind the schedule. QF6, the 1050 hours FCO-PER-SYD is predicted to push back at 1250 hours, with PER gate arrival tomorrow morning becoming an estimated 1015 hours, 105 behind.

In more on Tuesday July 11, QF12, the 2340 hours very late night LAX-SYD A388 has been delayed to a pushback proposed for 1000 on Wednesday 12. The latter is still 19 hours away.

B789 VH-ZNK on QF6 yesterday was airborne from FCO (Rome) at 1323 hours so PER arrival today should be approximately 1108 hours, 158 minutes late. Very optimistically, FR24 suggests that the scheduled 1000 hours leg across to SYD will depart at 1200 'high noon' (1400 AEST). QF5 tonight (1820 hours ex SYD) remains showing as punctual.

QF81/82 on Thursday 13 July (1150 hours daytime SYD-SIN and 2030 hours returning redeye) have been cancelled. These were showing as an A332.

Tuesday 11's QF15 (A332 VH-EBQ, the 2125 hours mid evening BNE up to LAX) took off at 2342 so a 1949 hours at gate arrival is expected, 104 minutes late. QF16 back to BNE remains displaying as on time at 2120 hours: this may be optimistic.

A388 VH-OQI on last night's 2055 hours LHR-SIN QF1 took off at 2231 hours with arrival in SIN tonight suggested as 49 late at 1819 hours. This will make it most unlikely that on Thursday morning, arrival in SYD will be punctual at 0510 hours.

Continuing with Wednesday 12 July, QF189 (0710 hours new flight from SYD to TBU in Tonga) has A332 VH-EBN but as at 0830, it was still taxiing in Sydney, so should be at least 50 minute slate arriving in the Pacific Island nation.

Wednesday's QF63 SYD-JNB (B789 VH-ZNJ) was 63 minutes late pushing back, and another 22 minutes prior to take off, making revised Jo'burg arrival 16:55 SAST 45 minutes late. This latter delay holding for the departure & arrival of the return QF64, thus estimated Sydney return at 14:10 AEST, Thursday.
Not sure I can see 85 minutes of delay cutting back to 45 minutes for a westwards journey with current wind patterns.

Also on Wednesday, this afternoon's QF27 SYD-SCL (B789 VH-ZNL) is on its way but running about 25 minutes late. This is unlikely to impact on the Santiago departure of the return QF28.
