Qantas Delays/Cancellations

This morning's QF93 MEL-LAX is showing a 90 minute delay, with departure from Melbourne now at 12:30 AEDT this afternoon. It is expected to make up time with a revised Los Angeles arrival of 08:30 PDT Monday, 70 minutes late.
B789 VH-ZNC having arrived early with QF10 from Perth on Sunday, eventually pushed back at 15:19 AEDT this afternoon, 4 hrs 19 min late, taking off from Melbourne at 15:37 AEDT. The revised Los Angeles arrival is now 10:57 PDT, 3 hrs 37 min late.

Another late starter today is QF9 MEL-PER-LHR, with revised Melbourne departure 18:15 AEDT, 85 minutes late. This delay holds for the Perth arrival, while Perth departure & London arrival are shown as 90 minutes late.

This flight pushed back at 22:07 AWST, with arrival time in London 7:55 GMT, still 2 hrs 50 minutes late.
 
Saturday : QF11 SYD-LAX (B789 VH-ZNE) pushed back 65 minutes late at 12:25 AEDT this afternoon, with a revised Los Angeles arrival of 7:39 PDT, 34 minutes late.

Shortly after, QF27 SYD-SCL (B789 VH-ZNH) pushed back 23 minutes late at 12:58 AEDT, however with favourable winds, is shown as arriving in Santiago early.
 
Looks like QF55 BNE-LAX on 30/10 landed at NOU at 2AM and left NOU at 8AM this morning back to BNE. It would have been hard to find last minute accommodation in New Caledonia, so probably a 4-5 hour wait at the gate lounge.
Must have been close to duty hours (given ~6hr ground time) so return to BNE better option As wouldn’t have hours left to get to LAX.

It’s unfortunate international on time stats don’t get produced as it seems compared to other carriers QF performance seems woeful
 
Tuesday : QF9/QF10 for Tuesday to Thursday will be a Perth-London-Perth Service only. Presumably Melbourne passengers will be making their way to/from Perth via alternate Domestic flights.
Assuming there is no swap of planes, B789s VH-ZNG & VH-ZNF will operate these flights this week, with ZNF returning to Melbourne on Friday, and ZNG returning on Saturday. With a 7hr 25min turnaround in Perth, COVID permitting, there should be no delays with this variation from normal scheduling.

Um, I read him as saying only three of the Qantas A380s are affected by this directive.

How long has this problem been known? The story I read was from September 2022. It sounds pretty serious, requiring 50 days of maintenance.
 
QF36 SIN-MEL sched 1940hr departure which had been largely on time / arriving early for the last week, had a significanty delayed dep 1/11.

Borded and then de-planed - pax told due to “mechanical issue” in need of repair, initial estimate 930pm departure, then 1155pm, and then pax told change of plane required (?) and eventually departed 2/11 @ 0115.

Depending on crew (2 or 3 pilot ops), may have been getting close to crew time limits?

Is there anywhere we can find out why QF52 has been delayed by about 6 hours?
Without someone “on the ground” it is often hard to find out why.

Have a look at inbound aircraft, if they are delayed (either immediate turnaround ie. inbound arcraft meant to arrive at 1700 for a 1930 departure but delayed arrival to eg. 2200, but also look at flight arrivals a day prior - if crews were late arriving the night before, they need not less than min rest and this crew availability may have affected departure time even if current day’s aircraft arrived on time, some stations build some “buffer” into the rest time eg. Min might be eg. 24hrs but scheduled is 30hrs or 36hrs to allow for this issue).

Bit of scratching around can sometimes come up with an “Educated guess”.

(In my case for QF36 I had a source on the ground).
 
New twice weekly QF18 LAX-SYD began with a 73 minute delay, B789 VH-ZNB departing Los Angeles at 10:43 PDT Thursday, with revised Sydney arrival estimated to be 19:31 AEDT Friday, 56 minutes late.
 
Today’s QF1598 MEL-NTL which was scheduled to depart at 18 55, was grounded on tarmac until 20 45 which has made it miss the 22 00 hours curfew in NTL and consequently cancelled.
 
Qf7 has diverted to Austin after a long hold so must be weather at DFW. Given crew hours this will likely cause on going delays for a couple of days.
QF7 (B789 VH-ZNA) was diverted to Austin at 16:45 CDT Friday 45 minutes after it was due in Dallas. It landed in Austin at 17:26 CDT, and just over an hour later at 18:32 CDT, took off for Dallas, arriving at 19:25 CDT, 3 hours 25 minutes late.

While that delay ate into the 6 hour 50 minute normal on ground time at Dallas, Qantas flight status shows only a 45 minute delay for the departure of the return QF8 at 23:10 CDT Friday, and no onward delay (as yet) for today's QF8 [CDT].
