On Monday 6 August 2018, QF411 with A332 VH-EBQ did not take off until 0823 despite being the 0730 hours SYD down to MEL. Arrival should be at 0950, 45 late.

The earlier QF403 (B738 VH-XZF) took off at 0735, 50 minutes after timetabled pushing back so arrival should be at 0853, 33 late in MEL.

QF409 (0700 hours SYD - MEL) is similar, having proceeded into the sky at 0753. VH-VXQ should be at its designated arrival gate at roughly 0915 hours, 40 late.

B789 VH-ZNC on QF96 from LAX to MEL should be at its allocated arrival gate at 0914 hours, 49 minutes behind schedule. Its next flight should be QF9 at 1515 ex MEL to PER and on to LHR so the long layover helps to give QF9 a good record of being timely ex Melbourne.

B717 VH-NXQ may be operating a SYD - BNE 'ferry' (empty) flight, having become airborne on 6 August at about 0847 hours. Flight is numbered QF6200.

Showing the extent of runway delays in SYD, the QF software said of Monday 6 August's QF575 that as it departed eight minutes late at 0833, arrival in PER would be 11 minutes early at 1119 hours.

However this 0825 hours flight did not take off until about 0910, so the estimated arrival (adjusted within a couple of minutes of the aircraft A332 VH-EBD reaching for the sky) has become 1154 hours, 24 late. Later it was adjusted to 1157, 27 late.

Also on Monday 6 August, QF29 (0935 hours MEL - HKG) is again delayed with departure expected at 1020 hours.

Perenially late QF23, the 0950 hours SYD up to BKK should begin its pushback at 1030, meaning arrival at 1725, 45 late.

QF127, the 1035 hours SYD - HKG is predicted to depart 25 late.

The afternoon 'second stringer' from SYD to HKG, QF117 is estimated to depart 55 late at 1515 hours.

QF127 (A388 VH-OQJ) departed SYD on 6 August at 1107, taking off at 1128, so arrival should be at 1840, 40 late.

VH-OQE on the 1015 hours SYD up to SIN is ahead of it, having become airborne at 1112 hours after pushing back 20 minutes prior. Lion City arrival should be at roughly 1729, 39 late.

QF33, also a scheduled 1015 hours out of SYD but to KIX has A333 VH-QPD and was airborne at 1103. A 33 minute delayed arrival at 1943 hours is expected.

It is unusual for QF23 (0950 hours SYD - BKK) to have an A332 and especially A332 VH-EBG that is one of the two unrefurbished of its type. The usual haunt for EBG and EBL is QF107/108 SYD - PEK return as these have the larger galley and crew rest suitable for a longer flight.

However today QF23 has EBG. The flight was in the sky at 1051 with suggested arrival at 1756, 76 late, having departed at 1028, 38 late. As usual, TG476, the 1000 hours SYD - BKK (B744 HS-TGA) is way ahead of QF23. The latter has had poor timekeeping for the last six months.

If QF can 'pick and choose' among morning departures as to which one runs the latest should there be a problem with an incoming flight, or insufficient available aircraft, does it make QF23 'bottom of the barrel?' One justification may be that this route could have fewer higher yielding business and government travellers than say flights to PVG or MNL.

'The 41' is normally a happy camper, often arriving CGK ahead of time after the run up from SYD, but on Monday 6 August an exception is apparent as A332 VH-EBL (more often on QF107/108) took off at 1510 hours (85 minutes after scheduled departure), so expected arrival is 2000 hours, 80 minutes tardy.

This will delay the QF42 redeye back down to SYD.

The 1425 hours HTI down to SYD has Q400 VH-QOT with takeoff at 1523, about 35 - 40 late. Its arrival in the mainland harbour city should be at approximately 1701 hours, 51 late.

M1 - QF currently have EBS and EBO in the 27J/228Y config capable of replacing EBG/L on the longer international runs.

Thanks mannej! Do these have a larger galley and more suitable crew rest facilities as well as the altered seating configuration?

Currently in London expecting to depart tonite (6th) to Singapore on QF2 at 21:15.
Just got text from Qantas advising we are now on QF2 at 08:30 on the 7th.
Their text said to use the app to sort it out, but that keeps crashing, so about to make phone calls to sort everything out.
Should be fun sorting/changing accommodation here, hire car here, and accommodation in Singapore.
The Singapore accommodation is through Qantas so hopefully they will sort it out.
Oh well, off to breakfast to await the call back from Qantas.
Interestingly, the My Booking page on the website still has the original details, and check-in is available.
Edit.
Joy oh joy, we arrive into Singapore at 4am!!!!!!!!!
Seems it is a crewing issue, and all is sorted. Qantas offered up to $200 for hotel room, and $50 per person for "incidentals" plus hire car fee extension.
Not unhappy, it's just one of those things and will have no effect on our arrival back to Oz in a few more days. (I hope!)

FlyboyAl (great name), thank you as that's one I missed.

Last night, QF1 (Sunday 5 August) departed SYD at 1654, 59 late, arriving SIN at 2336 hours, 81 late, but it did not then depart for LHR. It has been altered to do so at 2330 hours tonight SIN time (1630 British Summer time) for a Tuesday 7 August 2018 LHR arrival at 0615 hours.

Your 0830 hours QF2 ex LHR tomorrow morning should stop in SIN from 0435 to 0600 and reach SYD at 1525 hours mid afternoon on Wednesday 8 instead of the usual 0510 early morning at gate arrival.

QF455, the 1730 hours late afternoon SYD down to MEL has A332 VH-EBN as some comfort to passengers more accustomed to a single aisle B738, but the good news ends there as takeoff was at 1855 hours. Consequent arrival should be at about 2026 tonight, 76 late.

The 1920 hours MEL down to HBA, QF1017, has B738 VH-VXM and did not take off until 2002, so arrival should be at 2116 hours,41 minutes late.

A332 VH-EBB on 6 August is the 1910 hours MEL across to PER (QF481) that was in the sky at 2039, so arrival should be at 2235 tonight, 75 late. This will delay QF652 (2305 hours PER up to BNE redeye).

QF462 (1900 hours MEL - SYD) has VH-VXQ and was off blocks at 2037, so arrival is likely at 2145, 80 minutes behind time.

Thanks for update.
You will see my daughter and her friend on the new 11 hour delayed QF2 flight! Managed to get them a room at Hilton T4, hopefully all will be compensated. Safe travels.

All passengers on the overnight delayed Monday 7 August 2018 QF2 ex LHR (but not those joining in SIN) should be entitled to compensation as per EU261.

This has been discussed previously on AFF (just search) so I won't repeat it all but this delay will almost certainly come under those provisions. Ask check-in staff about whether they have a form for you to lodge a claim. Keep a copy of all communications with Qantas and record the names of staff members with whom you spoke, date, time and location plus what was said. All this is just commonsense.

I hadn't thought of EU261 - I thought (without looking) the accommodation reimbursement was higher than what QF offered. We have stayed an extra night at the Hyatt Suites at Heathrow (where we have been for the last 4 nights) and the extra night was A$255. If we don't get reimbursed, $55 is small price to pay for staying in our room versus changing hotels to who knows where.
I'll be watching to see if QF1 gets in on time!

I...
I'll be watching to see if QF1 gets in on time!

The overnight delayed QF1 (ex SYD on Sunday 5 August) departed SIN at 0018 on Tuesday 7, so arrival at LHR is expected at 0700, even later than QF had predicted (and 24 hours 5 minutes tardy).

The Monday evening 2115 hours ex LHR QF2 that was altered to depart at 0830 on Tuesday has now been further put back to a suggested 0900 hours pushback, with the SIN stop an unrealistically short 0505 to 0600 and SYD arrival on Wednesday 8 still at a claimed 1525 hours. Time will tell but I'd suggest these SIN and SYD times are optimistic.

The other problem you may have FlyboyAl is that while LHR ATC is reputedly the best in the world (an opinion shared by one of our contributing aviators), the airport will be busier at 0700 and 0900 than at 2115 at night.

In more on Tuesday 7 August 2018, QF96 should arrive MEL (ex LAX) at 0914 hours, 49 late. B789 VH-ZNE has the task. AFFer milehighclub gave a good explanation a few pages back as to why this flight is so often delayed from Los Angeles at present.

QF24 arrived in SYD at 0710, 45 late on QF24 ex BKK. QF23, the 0950 hours SYD - BKK is expected to depart at 1025 hours.

The late night 2325 hours Monday 6 August HKG to SYD, QF118, did not depart until 0226 on Tuesday so SYD arrival has become 1252 hours, 122 late for A333 VH-QPE.

The 1055 hours B744 from SYD to JNB, QF63 is expected to depart at 1400 this afternoon with arrival at 1925, 145 minutes late. This will result in the 1910 hours QF64 ex JNB being unable to push back until at least 2110 hours, although this latter delay is not yet displaying on the QF website. Often, QF doesn't change the information until the previous flight is in the air (in this case QF63).

QF4 delayed 20 hours on Monday 6 August. Departure now 7am on Tuesday 7th

bismarck, I checked QF3 (1915 hours SYD - HNL) on Sunday night but not Monday, so thanks. On both occasions it was (or was to be) VH-QPB (A333, as usual). Last night's has been deferred to an estimated departure from SYD shortly at 1215 hours for HNL arrival at an estimated 0200 hours on Tuesday 7 August.

Monday 6's QF4, the 1030 hours, is thankfully not turning around immediately and trying to depart at 0330 on Tuesday 7 but at a slightly more sociable 0700 hours with projected SYD arrival altering from the timetabled 1710- hours this afternoon to 1345 hours on Wednesday 8 Auigust.

Last nights QF36 was cancelled resulting in today’s QF35 being cancelled.

Thanks Flyerqf.

QF81 on Tuesday 7 August, the 1015 hours SYD - SIN (A388 VH-OQF) took off at 1111 and is arriving at 1226 hours.

I assume it is picking up some passengers in MEL due to QF35's cancellation. It would be interesting to know how many. A good move by QF to try to minimise delays for stranded northbound passengers.

QF asserts it will depart at 1315: possible, but very quick given that luggage has to be loaded, and arrive SIN at 1920 hours tonight, compared to the usual nonstop QF schedule of 1650 hours. QF82, the 2110 hours ex SIN will end up being delayed if this stop in MEL is much longer than QF suggests.

Meanwhile, QF520 (B738 VH-VZO, the 1100 hours SYD up to BNE that was airborne at 1210 hours) should arrive at 1325, 55 late.

UPDATE: The diverted QF81 departed MEL at 1338 and quickly took off at 1350 with QF suggesting it will arrive at its allocated SIN gate at 1924 this evening. Based on previous time in the air for QF35 this week, that may be around 20 minutes too optimistic if similar conditions prevail.
