QF9 from MEL (due out 2335 on Monday 29 December 2014) uneventfully departed 12 minutes late at 2347 but has been diverted to BAH, where it is about to land at a suggested 0630 but from
Flightradar24.com - Live flight tracker! it appears to be touching down as I write this, making it about 0620 at the gate.
The QF website suggests that the flight will then backtrack to DXB, departing BAH at a suggested 0745 local time for an 0945 arrival and 1130 departure in DXB, meaning a 1500 arrival at LHR in lieu of 1225.
A388 VH-OQL is the operating aircraft.
Does anyone know the cause? Many arrivals are in a holding pattern over DXB. Sandstorm? (I haven't looked up the weather.)
Does such a diversion mean that the tech or cabin crew (or both) are at or almost at maximum hours of duty?
