Qantas Delays/Cancellations

QF6032 just landed at LEA within legal flight hours. I estimate about 1 hour remaining on the clock.
While delayed not something in the control of the airline.
Lets see if it does depart for SYD as suggested by FA/FR24
SYD airport international (not domestic) arrivals suggest an estimated 0200 arrival.

Moot point where it comes in at, but arriving at international terminal helps to minimise its movement prior to next (international) flight after two or three days (though it has to be cleaned so that may negate my point.)

It might be out of action for a while, one or more days not hours I would suspect. Apparently all the squabs are being removed and treated as well as all internal surfaces being sanitised by a specialist team.

OEE is finally on way badly on SYD, arriving at 3am. Well after curfew, so an exemption for this government charter operation has obviously been granted.

Speculating:
Could one of the terms of the charter contract be a curfew exemption? When the AusGov has a cost liability it can easily change the rules

On Tuesday 4 February, QF79 was again delayed, departing MEL at 1057, 97 behind. Expected NRT arrival is 1855 hours, 75 minutes tardy.

Due to the delayed SYD - DPS QF43 last night, QF44 is arriving in SYD (A332 VH-EBS) at 0824 hours, 124 minutes late.

Some QFi fans welcomed the introduction of QF43/QF44 SYD - DPS - SYD flights as it gave an additional widebodied aircraft option and competition for GA, OD, VA and QFi's JQ among others.

Punctuality on these flights seemed generally unexceptional - mostly punctual - but this has changed.

While the weather has not always been kind, in the last seven days, QF43 has been cancelled once, arrived more than three hours late once, greater than two hours tardy once, more than an hour late once and 53 minutes late once, so a very poor timekeeping record.

This afternoon (Tuesday 4 February's) QF43, the 1650 hours is delayed in its pushback to an expected 1905 hours with arrival in Bali (at gate) likely at 2205 hours, 125 late. The redeye QF44 back down to SYD should then depart at 2310 (110 late) with Wednesday 5 arrival at about 0745 hours, 85 minutes tardy.

On Tuesday 4 February, QF79 was again delayed, departing MEL at 1057, 97 behind. Expected NRT arrival is 1855 hours, 75 minutes tardy.

Tonight (while not identical every night) this aircraft (A333 VH-QPH) is forming QF62, the 1930 hours NRT - BNE that is predicted to depart at 2025, a realistic allowance of c.90 minutes to turn the aircraft around. On Wednesday 5, arrival in the Sunshine State capital should be 0610 hours, half an hour behind. This should not result in any delays to outbound A330 flights from Brisbane tomorrow morning.

QF43 did not depart SYD until 2048 hours, arriving Bali at 2339, 219 minutes late. After a very quick 68 minute turnaround - good work - QF44 pushed back at 00447 hours on Wednesday 5, arriving SYD at 0937 hours, 197 minutes behind schedule.

QF418 and QF422 (0900 and 1000 hours MEL - SYD) were cancelled, as was QF814, the 0915 hours MEL - CBR.

The 0935 hours SYD to HKG, QF127, has been delayed until an expected 1300 hours this afternoon with arrival at 1850, 180 minutes late. QFi A388 arrivals this morning (QF2,8,12 and 128) were all timely (in some cases early to the gate) so not sure why the delay. FR24 suggests 'the 127' remains an A380.

In the afternoon, QF444, the 1430 hours MEL - SYD is also cancelled.

The anticipated departure delay has risen to 1430 hours with arrival speculated as 2010 hours, 260 minutes behind schedule.

'The 128' is incorrectly displaying on the QF flight status page as departing tonight at 1945. This will be more like 2155 or later, with SYD Thursday 6 February arrival becoming somewhere between 1000 and 1030 hours.

QF2, another A388 - VH-OQE - departed LHR on Tuesday 4 February very late at 2337 hours, 182 behind. The SIN stop is expected on Thursday to become 2033 hours mid evening (168 minutes tardy) to 2200 hours 165 late) for SYD Thursday 6 arrival at 0840 hours, 150 minutes behind schedule.

The delayed Wednesday 5 February QF127 (A388 VH-OQC) pushed back in SYD at 1442 hours, 307 minutes late, taking off at 1500 hours on the dot, so arrival is predicted for 2018 hours, 268 minutes tardy.

It arrived HKG at 2029 on Wednesday 5, 279 minutes late. QF128 then pushed back at 2238 (258 late) with Thursday 6 SYD arrival suggested as 1042 hours, 242 minutes behind schedule. This aircraft will form QF7, the 1440 hours to DFW so barring unexpected delays, one would hope it's punctual.

QF127 this morning has a minor delay showing of 20 minutes - to 0955 hours ex SYD - so because there were sufficient A380 arrivals that arrived prior to the delayed QF128, it isn't badly affected.

QF418 and QF424, respectively the 0900 and 1030 hours MEL - SYD have been cancelled. For QF418, the is the second consecutive day when it's not run. QF470, the 1545 hours on the same route but this afternoon has also got the flick, as has the later QF484 (1915 hours ex MEL.) Have bookings dropped so much?

The 0915 hours MEL up to CBR, QF814, took off at 0958 with arrival for B738 VH-VZQ suggested as half an hour late at 1050 hours.

The delay to QF127 on Thursday 6 February became longer, SYD pushback occurring at 1023 for a suggested 1620 hours HKG arrival, half an hour late.

On one of its final operational days - at least for no while coronaviruis continues spreading - QF129, the 1055 hours SYD - PVG departed at 1140 hours. A 1909 hours arrival in the mainland Chinese capital of commerce is predicted, 39 late.

'The 63' (1135 hours SYD - JNB B744) was predicted to depart an hour late but is even more delayed.

UPDATE; QF63 departed at 1249 hours, 74 minutes tardy with arrival showing as 35 late at 1710 this afternoon local time.

B738 VH-VZP is on QF433, the 1230 hours lunchtime SYD down to MEL in the sky at 1322, so at gate arrival should be at about 1438, 33 late.

The very heavy rain around Brisbane doesn't appear to be creating long delays yet but that's perhaps a function as to how it's not yet peak period.

QF637 on Thursday 6 February, the 1335 hours BNE down to SYD (B738 VH-VZJ) took off at 1428 hours so arrival in an also rainy (not quite as much) SYD should be at 1642 hours, 32 minutes tardy.

Q400 VH-QOH on QF2567, the scheduled 1210 hours BNE down to CBR turboprop took off at 1335 hours. Likely arrival is 1630, 70 behind.

Later on 6 February, QF452 (1700 hours peak time MEL - SYD up up and away at 1728 with B738 VH-VYA) should arrive at its gate into a rainy SYD at about 1855, half an hour behind schedule.

QF465 in the opposite direction, the 1900 hours ex SYD (VH-VYA) pointed skywards at 2002 hours so arrival looks to be 2117 hours, 42 minutes late.

Friday 7 February has QF2280 (early morning 0630 hours LST to MEL that did not take off until 0731) arriving at a suggested 0837 hours, 52 minutes late with Q400 VH-LQH. Fog was not forecast in Launceston this morning, and its arrival last night ex MEL was 12 late at 2022 hours, so no obvious reason for the delay unless ATC mandated it not have clearance until much later than scheduled.

Wednesday 5 February's QF50 (B789 VH-ZNI) departed SFO a minute late at 0716 hours but unusually diverted to SYD (with its rain.) It arrived on Friday 7 at 0651 then promptly departed at 0736 hours, becoming airborne at 0759. Arrival in the southern capital that is subject this morning to some fog patches and smoke haze should be 0905 hours, 140 minutes late. This however is better than some A388 QF94 delays that on occasion in similar circumstances tend to be around three hours.

Given it's peak period, to only be on the ground in SYD for 45 minutes is impressive.

Looking at its flight path, where it diverted when southeast of West Wyalong NSW, this may well have been a sudden medical diversion.
