Re: Check you statement for correct points given. 1 point per $1 spent.

For anyone wondering about points not posting this month, an email from a rep:

"We are currently experiencing system error.
You will receive Qantas points in March’12 for both Jan’12 & Feb’12 provided you make eligible purchases.

Sorry for the inconvenience."

I received the same advice last month, after worrying that my January points bonus would not come through (I didn't receive the card until after the 31st December cut-off date for sign ups).

Checking my QFF account last night shows 5000 sign up in December, and +10000 credited yesterday for January and February bonuses, along with the actual points reward for $ spent.

Hooray! :)

Re: Check you statement for correct points given. 1 point per $1 spent.

This CC is actually pretty good. I like the service. (And the cool "Staff" logo card).

However the annual fee is quite high imo. Will see how we go closer to my anniversary date.

If you are planning to cancel the card, do it before the annual fee hit
They won't waive it :(

Earn up to 30,000 bonus Qantas Frequent Flyer points in the first 5 months when you make eligible purchases and receive the card before 31 December 2012[SUP]2[/SUP] -Earn 1 Qantas Frequent Flyer point for every $1 spent on eligible purchases[SUP]1

^ That part of the promotion is no longer available, making the card a lot less attractive

I confirm that. My fee was imposed on 16 Feb. Statement issued 28 Feb.
I tried to cancel the card today and was told that in accordance with the T&C - once the fee is imposed, it won't be refunded even if you cancel.

This seems to be extraordinary. I am going to follow this up...

Has anyone had any success in cancelling after the fee is imposed and getting it refunded?

I'm in this same boat.... did you follow up?? Any update?

Thanks.

Re: Check you statement for correct points given. 1 point per $1 spent.

I've cancelled this card. I was getting charged interest each month for late payment because I was BPaying and they seem to have absolutely NO grace period. I was paying it at leave five days early and still getting charged interest. At least my main CC, from Westpac, gives me a day or two grace - in fact Westpac text me the day after the due date if I haven't paid and if I pay then I don't get charged interest.

I'd have a serious go at them about this. I believe its part of the BPay agreement (if not law) that Bpay payment dates have to be backdated to the actual date you made the payment, not some weird other day 3-7 days in the future when the receiving institution decides to register it.

That is correct.

As long as the payment is made before the cut-off time, the biller should count the payment has been made on the actual date you sent it.

Re: Check you statement for correct points given. 1 point per $1 spent.

These guys do like their annual fee. I closed my account more than a month before the 12 months were up, got my final statement today and there's an annual fee charge on it. I'll be giving them a call....

Edit : Call made, apparently some rule change came in that means annual fees for everyone. The girl I spoke to is going to chat to some people and get back to me tomorrow, but stresses that she can make no guarantees.

Hopefully this works out easily, I won't be taking no for an answer though.

The card was in husband's name; he rang and cancelled and told them. Since I'd only been putting one small purchase on it each month to get the 5,000 points the interest was minimal and he was embarrassed to request a refund.

The other thing about this card is that some months I received the statement in the mail only the day before payment was due. My new BankWest card has given me over 21 days to pay from receiving the statement (albeit electronically) and Westpac about 14. Where I work we used to have Bendigo Bank CCs and they had a really bad habit of sending the statements so close to the payment date that I could never get them paid on time so I cancelled them and went with a big bank.

Re: Check you statement for correct points given. 1 point per $1 spent.

I cancelled my card a few days ago, one month before renewal date. Have kept the savings account going and when I checked on line today the cc account has been taken off. Sincerely hope they do not try and put through a renewal fee

Re: Check you statement for correct points given. 1 point per $1 spent.

How do you cancel the card if you don't have internet banking?? Apparently the card can't be cancelled over the phone, can someone confirm this??

I cancelled via secure email on their website then called customer service to confirm receipt and discuss my savings account balance they are setting me up with a debit card to retrieve funds when required and I telnet banking still in place

Re: Check you statement for correct points given. 1 point per $1 spent.

Husband wrote a letter and mailed it with a copy of a statement. Haven't had confirmation that it's been cancelled yet though...

Re: Check you statement for correct points given. 1 point per $1 spent.

I called to close my card a week before due date, the contact center advised they would send me out a Request to Close Membership form via email. I completed it and returned via email. A week later received a cheque for an amount owing to me that I had paid over the balance the month before. A week after this I received an email advising me that my statement was ready. Come to think of it I better check based on reports here that I haven't been charged an annual fee.

Re: Check you statement for correct points given. 1 point per $1 spent.

A happy ending for me. They called me this morning to tell me they are sending me a cheque refunding the fee.

Re: Check you statement for correct points given. 1 point per $1 spent.

I just checked my secure mail tab through QSCU website and there is an email there confirming the cancellation of my card.
