Got the Visa debit in the mail, now applying for the Platinum. Where do they actually tell you your member number? All the letters just refer to "your member number, which ends in the digits XYZ'.

Have you received a letter:

Dear ............

Welcome to Qantas Staff Credit Union (QSCU). We're delighted to have you as a member .........................................

Half way down the page is: Your Member number, your savings account number and the QSCU BSB number.

This is one of the letters that I've received. I think that I've received 4 letters containing various bits of information, so far. Now waiting for the card to arrive.

Just give them a quick call tomorrow and it should be sorted out easily enough. For actual Qantas staff, our member number is just our staff number.

Given I use my cards primarily for business use, this card is off my list!

Seems like they're starting to try and clamp down on points earned for paying the ATO.

Amex seem to have done the same recently.

Morning all, just joined after being a lurker for a while (cc promotions).

Regarding the QSCU offer, I just applied sometime last week online, and have been approved. When I was speaking about providing all the info of bank, loan, credit card statements; I was told that they have changed what's actually needed.
, in which they were happy with my reply.

Anyone who changed their mind due to all the paperwork, try again and ask them to verify.

All I provided as proof was 2 payslips and 2 tax man statements. Nothing more then what was required to be filled in on the application.

They asked if my credit file was actually what it said (ie: applied for many cards over the years, how many are actually active)

Yikes! Pretty much retail only then?

I use my card exactly twice a month - both petrol purchases for around $30 each - bonus points of 5000 are posting every month. Stop by the Newsagents and buy a paper every second week - or buy McDonalds on it twice a month - or charge a massage or flowers for your loved one - get the points and in six months time cancel it = easy QFF points

Another LONG TIME LURKER about to make my first post.

I just applied for this card last week and so far the process has been smooth sailing....

All I've got to do is fax my Online Saver statement and the card will be approved.

Hi coles525 & avinashm,

Welcome to AFF. :D

I've gotten on board with this one as well. Cards been approved, just waiting for it to show. Good deal for me as I plan on making use of the travel insurance too. =)

Thanks for info FFers. Won't apply for this one now, seems like too much docs hassle for 6months spend to get 30k QFF points. It's good that Credit Unions are stricter, but surely at least with QCU they already have your ID from opening the account and using that Australian-invention of electronic ID checking by phone book or electoral roll etc & passport or DL, think it's called Edentiti. Just crazy how today companies still have department silos & don't just use customer info and credit checks.

A cynic might say that a CU is just going through the motions of those strict doco proofs to give an image of being just as secure as a big bank. Who knows, might be true.

Addyoni, I disagree. I thought the process would be long and tedious but seriously, all they asked for was 3 payslips and my savings statement. No 100-point ID check.

+1 on the disgree. I did the 100 point check on the net without any issues to open an account (note I never had an account to start with). I supplied payslips and some CC statements and it was all ok.

How do CU advise if card approved or declined, via email? I received an email requesting payslips which I sent through. What next?

Personally I didn't find the docs a hassle at all. I work on contract via a personal pty. ltd. company so they asked for a copy of my latest contract, the last 3 years of tax returns and a rates notice.

Very easy and very fast approval.

Anyone have any experience applying for this as an Oz temporary resident? I am on 457 visa, will be applying for permanent residency, but in the meantime looking to earn QFF points and start building a credit history here. This looks like a good deal. I can supply payslips but haven't filed a tax return here yet...

Best personal service I've had from any financial institution I reckon. Having said that, unlikely to renew for the 2nd year. Too many deals.
