I booked a business domestic flight online today and paid for it by Poli. I cancelled the fare a few hours later and received a voucher for the amount of the flight.

However, now when I am trying to use the voucher on the Qantas website, I get the following error messages:

  • This voucher cannot be used online. Please contact the Call Centre (15109 - 0)
  • An error has occurred in our central database. Please contact us for further information. (4002 [0])
  • This air itinerary could not be repriced. Contact us for further information. (8145 [77])

Any ideas why I am getting these error messages? Is it because it was booked today and cancelled today and I'm also trying to use it today, and it's not completely in the system just yet?

This may seem dumb but have you actually tried calling?

also remember the conditions of the voucher that new fare must be of equal or higher value and all that?

It could just be a temporary glitch

I actually cancelled a J fare today from a voucher and got a credit voucher and applied it to a new fare no issue

good luck

Happy to look in to it if you can send me the details via private message.

Thanks.
Yes it was ticketed and I ended up phoning customer care, who had no idea why I was getting these error messages.

I'll send a PM to red roo

To those wondering about residual gift vouchers. The errors in the OP are very similar to to the errors that happen when comments need to be removed from residual gift vouchers.

Just bumping this thread with my experience today.
I booked flights via the call centre today using a credit voucher, this was initially a cancelled booking made with a gift voucher. After 1 hour the e-ticket arrived in my inbox but looking online I got the same message as the OP.
I called up and asked for the comments to be removed from the voucher and this restored functionality to MMB allowing seat selection etc.
Big thanks to blackcat20 for helping me out with this.

I've had two instances of the same in the past week. Vaguely recall something about removing comments from the voucher to get it rectified but forgot. Ticket hadn't arrived so called up and was on the line for 30 minutes while an agent tried to fix (had to give credit card detail again, which was a surprise). Error messages still appeared after ticket issued but was able to get the SST to fix. Sadly they've fixed one but not the other. That flight isn't until November so will wait until I have enough time to call.

Is all I need to say "please remove the comments from my voucher"? Will agents understand that?

Make sure you monitor your credit card statement for any inadvertent double charges...

That's what I did. The agent knew what I was talking about straight away. She asked me to stay on the line whilst I logged onto the booking to see that the issue was resolved.

Yep - first thing I did. Ticket hadn't issued and no charge on the cc so was reasonably confident it didn't go through (Qantas charges show up within minutes as 'pending' on my CC in my experience). I will keep an eye out though.

In my case the doubled-up charge actually posted on my credit card a few weeks after my call to the service centre, so it came very much as a surprise as I thought everything was resolved. So do check back and keep an eye out...

Thanks. I have a lot of bookings with QF so easy to lose it, but given it's a residual voucher amount this will stand out. I'll monitor for some time.

This is happening to me to, I have booked a number of flights and cannot view or manage any of them without getting an error. Red Roo, can you help?

Also, has anyone had issues with the time taken to issue the ticket when using a voucher? It is taking 24 hours for me to receive the ticket and residual credit once I have booked a flight. Spoke to the call centre and they say this is because every ticket has to be issued manually.... I certainly wasn't aware of this and am trying to book 7 family members on the same flight, meaning this will take 7 days to book! I will think twice before buying gift voucher again.

If that is still happened more than 24 hours after the residual is issued then you need to call Qantas to have the comments removed.
(as an aside one of my residual vouchers is demanding ESTA information before I can use it to book a domestic Australia flight - Qantas has really taken a step backwards with Gift vouchers.)

On the other problem it sounds like you have already purchased a single person voucher. If so, that's not good. But do you know that you can purchase a single voucher for 7 people? That would the be way to book a flight for 7 people at once. You select 7 people and the value required per person. so 7 people @$100 will cost $700.
If you already have a single person voucher, it might be worthwhile ringing to see if they can add 6 more people.

You are correct, I purchased a single person voucher (last December to take advantage of the extra points) and didn't give much thought to how I was going to use it. I spoke to the call centre last night and this morning and that seems to have sped things up a bit so I'm hoping it won't take too much longer.

Good luck

It took me a few phone calls to have a missing residual voucher issued, that voucher is now unusale due to the ETSa demands. So more phone calls. My point - don't be shy in calling them.

I made a booking using a gift voucher on Sunday.
It appeared to process the fare difference to my credit card at the time and I have a confirmed booking.
However I haven't received an e-ticket and no charge has appeared on my credit card.
I can use manage my booking to select seats but if I try to email the itinerary or tax invoice I receive an error.

I seem to remember there being a short delay in ticketing using a gift voucher before but 3 days seems excessive.
Of course I am happy not to have the charge on my credit card but I need the tax invoice so I can seek reimbursement of the fare as a travel expense.
Should I be concerned or is a >3 day delay normal when ticketing a reservation made with a gift voucher?

I would call after 3 days. My last to voucher bookings were made in June and were only confirmed after ringing in July.
