If you can figure out how to set up auto pay to clear the whole balance on the due date please let me know.

We have one each and it is swept on the 24th of each month from our savings account and they will set it up for you.

All balance from the last day of the previous month is cleared.

Never paid a cent of interest ever.

I am looking for a new card to replace my Woolies one.

Thank you for this thread .

Can anyone comment on the advantages of the QCU visa vs the

HSBC Platinum Qantas Credit Card

HSBC Platinum Qantas Credit Card (0% BT for 6 months & 20,000 bonus points) - InfoChoice Credit Card Comparison

I like the free supp card and no limit so wonder why so many seem to be choosing the QCU one.

Obviously, there are less bonus points.

There's no points cap on the QCU card but apart from that and the extra 10K bonus points for QCU there's little difference.
HSBC card does get two Qantas Club guest passes I think.

What's the paperwork like to sign up for this one?

The actual sign up process is fine. They do however require you to send through quite a bit of financial paperwork. In my case it was 3 payslips , 3 Credit Card Statements and 3 Savings account statements. I believe some others have had to send a lot more than this.

Ditto plus a car loan statement. I wished I didn't have to send the credit card statements - they spotted the business transactions and chipped me about them. I didn't have payslips but a letter on letterhead confirming gross income was accepted and they could see the funds going to the savings account.

HSBC Platinum Qantas Credit Card
I picked up the QCU card in 2013 during their last bonus point promotion. I ditched it after a year in favour of the HSBC card as they had a bonus point promotion.

QCU Pros: Paypass, no points capping
QCU Negs: Biggest for me was they would only apply Bpay payments to your account when QCU received the funds, not when the Bpay bill was paid. This is against Bpay policy, and I had a back-and-forth email conversation with them about that. They waived the interest charges but it was enough to make me look elsewhere.
The internet banking is also pretty terrible but so is HSBC's.

HSBC Pros: 2x QF lounge passes
HSBC Negs: No Paypass, points capping, customer service (think Citibank and you're close)

I've been with QCU for many years now. Their service is fantastic - you can ring the local branch and they have always been able to fix any issue. The Plat card is quite good as well IME.

Finally got approved for the card after a weeks worth of back and forth having to explain every single charge on my transaction account...

Ok thanks. I'm self employed so it may be even tougher.

I have found the staff on the phone to be really friendly and helpful. But some of the processes are a little antiquated. For example, to register for on-line banking requires a paper form to be filled in and sent to them to be processed. I was told an email of the scanned form is acceptable, but still waiting after 2 days to receive registration confirmation/details. I am sure it will get done, just take a little time and manual processing.

For a supplementary card, the cardholder must also be a member, then once their membership details arrive in the post (just a few days after on-line registration) its another paper form to be printed, completed and posted or emailed back to be processed.

So I can't cancel the WoW/EDR card until Mrs NM's supp card arrives. QCU card looks, though :)

I've yet to apply for Shrek's supplementary card. Hopefully will get it done before I leave for the UK.
It's very handy having an uncapped point per $ Visa.
We are pretty much a cashless couple and there are a lot small shops and cafes which either surcharge or don't take Amex.

Finally emailed all requested documents this evening. Was asked to send a copy of my last council rates ..interesting as on reflection, I realised how much info that gives them...how long before I hear from them again?

Glad I don't have too rely on providing "all and sundry" for a CC ... the information they're requesting is an absolute joke! No way I'm coughing all that up for a poxy credit union card!

Gee amaroo I started having Mrscove saying give up but my university course "tenacity 10" kicked in. I am enjoying using this card where Amex is surcharged. I emailed more than 100 pages and I think one card had history where I paid many $50,000s to the ATO and tax returns that were way too generous in enriching the fiscal fiend. I have the card and it is working sweetly.

Yup....I sent in around 40 pages of documents...I hope it is worth it. ..also I hope the 1 QF point per $ spent does not change too soon;)

Did you hear back?

No...might give them a call tomorrow as they now have had my documents for a week. ..
Just rang....2 stage approval process apparently. Have already been approved at first stage and needs signing off by a more senior person (2nd stage) which I'm told is more of a formality, and card hopefully would be printed and sent in the next day or 2...so looking good so far...Woohoo...Just got a call back. Card approved and will get it within 7 business days. Credit limit as requested;) Apart from the time to collate all the documents mentioned above, it was quite a painless process in the end. A 1 QF pt per $ spend Visa card (with 30K signup bonus)...:D:mrgreen:

Last night I heard that one of my friends gave up after sending the first 40 pages of documents to Qantas Credit Union. Then I hear that her points stash has dwindled to single digit thousands following bookings to Japan and Melbourne in business class. Life wasn't meant to be easy!
