Qantas Courtesy Upgrade Love

The comp upgrades are back, from now until 30/11 inclusive for one pax PNRs where the pax holds CLP1/P1/CL/P. Comp upgrades will be processed from Y to J or J to F only. W pax are for some reason excluded...

For CLP1/P1 they'll be done at T-22h. For CL/P, for international they'll be done at T-22h and for domestic they'll be done at T-6h.
Yes, could be awkward. SYD+1 and I have a trip next week. Separate tix each way…

Where is this information from? When you say 'Y' do you mean any economy or class type 'Y'. I suppose this will be subject to availability, provided there are seats in the upgrade class. Not much chance in domestic flights then!

Y cabin to J cabin, J cabin to F cabin. These are space available but they will keep some spare, so they aren't reliant on U/P classes being available.

Maybe adding only to the pseudo-data, this year I've had a surprising success rate with poitns upgrade requests. from Premium Y and and Y to business. Oz- to/from USA and PER to/from CDG.

Well time to see if I get anything. MEL - SIN (edit: ha J1 this aint happening) in 8 days. SYD - HKG - MEL in 3 weeks.

Not sure that really helps. It doesn't say anything about class types. And if Qantas are notify pax about reinstating op-ups, I have no information.
It does ...
Today I am travelling internationally in O class and after doing OLCI yesterday, the advice to obtain my boarding pass at the airport was received.
As for Qantas notifying PAX, I'm sure there's nothing public.

@madrooster is a knowledgeable TA with good industry connections and if they post something like that, I take it as gospel.

OK, so you were travelling Discount Economy "O" and received an op-up. That's encouraging! I have a 5 sector trip coming up so hope for the best!

MR is a travel agent with close connections at QF. Just because he knows it, doesn't mean it's public knowledge.

I've got a flight with MrsDaver6 in November, but separate bookings. I'm WP while she's SG. This could get awkward 🤣
That happened with us in EK. (Back when they liked Qantas members) But on same PNR. MrP was SG and I was silver. We were in J. He got an upgrade to F at check in. I didn't. I was simply excited for him and told him to grab all the goodies. He asked if he could change it so I had it. She couldn't change it. As I went to board my boarding pass triggered an alarm. They ended up upgrading me too.

Hoping this Qantas love sticks in 3 weeks to Hawaii. Two P travelling in Y+ and points upgrade to J. Currently showing J9. Happy to use points.

MrP got a free upgrade Adelaide to Melbourne a few weeks ago. Pleased with that as it was a dinner one and didn't have to scrounge for food on arrival. I had made him a peanut butter sandwhich which he kept and offered it to an exec the next day who hadn't had a chance to get breakfast. 😂

Appreciate the heads up. I was annoyed my PER flight later this week was subbed from an A330 to B737. Although I have flex fare they still wanted >$150 to change to an earlier A330 flight despite that plane being almost empty. Was going to cancel and book on VA but then saw this news. So I've cancelled the flex and booked a new red e-deal.

EF currently showing 21 business seats free, and only 46 pax in economy. Seems like good odds to verify the news!

Last week managed an earlier flight PER-MEL with only a discount economy fare. No charge. Best to ask in the lounge, not at the sales desk. In the lounge they have more discretion on changes.
