I must remember to do these things earlier. Tried for weeks to get an upgrade online using points but every time, I get a fault message telling me to try later. Well you get busy and so at the Hong Kong airport you say I see there are plenty of Business Class seats left and I have been unable to get the site to work, any chance for a points upgrade. Sorry sir, we cant do that, you can buy one though. Oh well PE isn't so bad will try and not get so busy next time.

Did you have a fare that allowed you to request an upgrade? Did you try to ring QF and ask? There have been some known issues with the domestic upgrades in the past few months, so perhaps it was the same for you.

Next time, try calling and asking to avoid missing out on any possibility. If you're just going HKG-SYD, Premium isn't a bad way to go at least:)

Yeh I have a ticket that allows all the perks, hanged it yesterday from tomorrow to today no issues at all on the web site but just haven't been able to get the upgrades to work. I agree I should have called but just got busy and missed out. Its funny you can request an upgrade where they can do this right to the boarding gate but you cant ask for one at the airport. I'll get over it I think te seat next to me n PE is empty tonight so I can relax more chucking my cough everywhere haha

There has been a well known bug with this for some time, ringing the call centre would resulted in a request being placed.

Not sure if it will make you feel any better, but just because there were plenty of empty J seats does not mean that a points upgrade request would have succeeded anyway. QF doesn't fill the J cabin with upgraded pax like some other airlines do.

The PE cabin was quite empty last night as well, a full three seat row empty, I had a seat empty next to me, and there was quite a few more. Was great actually :-) So I have about 20,000 extra points from this trip. Its a shame I cant use them to get to Vancouver at the end of the year.
