(Q1) Yes

(Q2) Yes - SG/WP/CL override standard QP Benefits

-note that baggage check-in agents sometimes have other ideas.

(There's actually a thread on this somewhere, I don't have the time to look right now ...)

So GOLD get Business tags in Y Domestic?

Fursten

Up to 30 September (which really was 28 September as you could only do it over the phone and their service centre closed at 7pm Friday 28 September) fees were:

LIFE [no joining fee] $4200
PARTNER LIFE [no joining fee] $2595
SENIOR LIFE [must have turned 60 on or before 28/9 and no joining fee] $2150
SENIOR PARTNER LIFE [must have turned 60 on or before 28/9 and no joining fee] $1330

The life option has now disappeared forever. You'd be annoyed if you were 59 and about to turn 60!

Gold members get Priority Tags iirc

gold get pink business tags.
platinum get highest class of service tags - so domestically pink, on a 3 class international they get yellow first tags.
this is all irrespective of class travelled.

quite often i find that checkin agents just throw on orange priority tags without thinking, and if questioned get a "well it doesn't matter anyway" response.

to be fair it probably doesn't matter as most airports seem to have a random lottery on the carousel, but it does irk me when it happens as its quite often hand-in-hand with an "i don't care" attitude, and i shouldn't have to point it out to them.

Also, SG often get pink as well.

In practice, this is what seems to happen if the Check-in agent is "switched on". However, it is not listed as a benefit on the Qantas web site (nor in some old T&C booklets I have).

There is mention is of priority tags is for SG's and and WP's and "plus First Class Luggage Tags on International Flights" for WP's.

I guess it's something like SG/WP/CL not being charge revalidation fees on award flight time and date changes. i.e. Exists, but not publicly documented.

Lately my experience has been that even when travelling business class they tag my bags as a QC member (yellow priority labels), and, particularly at Melbourne airport, my bags come off pretty much last. :(

This was posted on the following thread: qc senior membership renewal ... which was then closed.

This was in response to littl_flier's post there:

Unfortunately Trish, it is indeed true.

We all had a bit of a whinge about it over here: http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/com...l?highlight=removing+life+membership#post1405 64 (Qantas Club Price Rise)

Prices were also upped for standard memberships.
Nowhere in this thread is it mentioned that Senior QP Memberships are a thing of the past. i.e. Not only have Life memberships gone, there are no longer any senior categories at all.

This appears to be another of those quiet enhancements of Qantas.

maybe no seniors on Qantas board or seniors working for qantas they are all retired and forgotten. They probably believe us seniors are cashed up and do not need to get a subsidy, one day they may find the "nomads" and "skiers" have gone to other companies.
Fursten:shock:

Oops. my mistake; I thought that they had been mentioned plus little_flier indicated as such

Have they actually gone or do they still exist but are just not mentioned on the QF site

Dave

Going by the process Qantas used in the removal of life categories referred to in earlier posts in this thread (disappeared from web site, available for remainder of month by calling); perhaps calling Qantas Club service desk will enable senior renewal.

Yes, my mistake too. Apologies Trish- was thinking life membership not senior membership.

The only true answer will come when someone rings the Qantas Club service desk and asks the question. Until then we are all only guessing.

Guessing and pondering is what makes this site so wonderful ;)

Can't be letting the facts get in the way of a good thread....:D

LATEST QANTAS CLUB ENHANCEMENT:

Change to Lounge Access in Nadi

From 1 November 2007, the co-branded Qantas and Air Pacific Lounge at Nadi International Airport will be solely operated by Air Pacific. Access to the lounge will be available to Gold and Platinum Frequent Flyers. Qantas Club, Silver and Bronze Frequent Flyers travelling in Business can also enjoy lounge access before their flight. Air Pacific intends to embark on a refurbishment of the lounge later in the year.

This is absolute non sense as Qantas owns Air Pacific. Qantas has simply made this decision so that it has an excuse to exclude Qantas Club members from the lounge. It is even more ridiculous as most Air Pacific executives are from Qantas who run the airline on Qantas's behalf.

It is a real disgrace on Qantas's part - taking benefits from Qantas Club members.

I still maintain that the Star Alliance club/lounge access system is fairer - if you are a member of one airline's club you can access any other Star Alliance airline's lounge when travelling on any Star Alliance Flight.

As far as I know, Air Pacific is not a member of an airline alliance.

How may *A member airlines have "clubs" for paid membership such as Qantas Club? I expect some do and some don't. Are you certain that alliance-wide lounge access is available to such club members who do not also hold the required Star Alliance FF status (Star Gold)? For example, I believe a paid member of the Air NZ Koru Club is only entitled to lounge access when flying on an NZ operated services with an NZ flight number. So a Koru Club member cannot use the SQ lounge in SIN if flying in economy with SQ, or the LH lounge in FRA if flying in economy with LH, unless they also have *Gold FF status. In which case the lounge access benefit is based on the FF status and not the Koru Club membership. I don't see that much different to the OneWorld Alliance lounge access benefits which are available to Sapphire and Emerald status members.

So what is it about the Star Alliance lounge access policy that is fairer than the OneWorld lounge access policy? The only limitation imposed on any OneWorld members for lounge access is where AA members have specific restrictions for access to AA lounges.

Qantas Club membership has nothing to do with OneWorld FF status. Qantas Club membership provides complimentary membership of Qantas Frequent Flyer program, which is what bring about the OneWorld benefits. Similarly, NZ Koru Club has nothing to do with Star Alliance FF status. Koru Club provides complimentary membership of NZ AirPoints which is what brings about Star Alliance benefits.

I think you are mistaken regarding Star Alliance.

If I join United's Red Carpet Club (similar paid membership to Qantas Club) I can access lounges of the other star alliance members when travelling on their flights. The following table explains this:

United Airlines - Star Alliance lounges

I think it is similar if you are a Air NZ Koru Club member.

My request is that the One World Airlines copy this. IE - If I am a member of QClub or any other One World Airline's lounge/club, that I can use any lounges of One World Members when travelling with them.
