Ok, so this is absolutely a MINOR problem compared with almost everything but perhaps I’m not the only one wondering.
Just a few weeks ago I paid around $450 to renew my Qantas Club membership, and now I can’t use it at all. Qantas have bigger things to worry about but has anyone heard anything about this issue? In a normal environment that would be something one could complain about. Our status has been extended for a year so I would have expected maybe the same sort of thing for Q Club membership. Anyone with any insights?

You cant use your QC membership on international flights for at least the next 2 months, but you can still use it at the domestic terminals, in fact you will be given access to the Business Lounge instead (which is an upgrade to the QC.

Until Government place restrictions on domestic flights it will be difficult to argue no ability to use.

I was actually wondering this also. With my renewal coming up in May, and I only use it for international travel , thought maybe it might get differed for the period of time the closures affect?

Me too, well to put it this way I don’t think I’ll be renewing my membership in April. I think it would be reasonable to extend the expiry date by something like six months.

Glad to see that I am not alone in wondering about this. Perhaps when things settle a bit we can make an argument that it would be reasonable to extend the expiry date.

I’d be surprised if they don’t extend your membership by a few months at least.

You might have received the email saying booking to July 2020 can now be changed.

it also mentioned that all domestic and international lounges are closed and the team will be contacting all Qantas Club members next week with information about extension of these memberships.

Oh that's good to know, I probably did receive that email and just binned it. I'll keep an eye out.
Cheers, thanks for the info.

Please let us know - either if you can find it or if you contact QC and they let you know ? It would be interesting to know the official answer..

Shall do, I won't be contacting Qantas as I'm not into self-torture (hence why I asked here) but if I hear anything from them I will certainly get back and let everyone know.

I've just looked at the QF website, looks like QC membership may go down the path as status extension.

Alert

Due to government restrictions, all Qantas operated lounges across our network are closed from 12.00pm (AEDT) 23 March 2020 until further notice. See lounge closures for more details.

An update from the Qantas Club team
Due to the closure of all lounges across the Qantas network, customers will be unable to join or renew Qantas Club memberships at this time. The Qantas Club team are working through options for Qantas Club members impacted by this closure. We appreciate your patience and understanding at this time.

So last night I got this. Thanks for those who engaged. Our query has been answered. Gods will we can travel later in the yea, although I have my doubts and - having just paid - I think a one year extension would have been nice but small beans in relation to the bigger picture.

Due to further requirements announced last week, as of 23 March 2020 we have had to close all Qantas operated lounges across our network until further notice. We've also temporarily closed Qantas Valet and Qantas Meeting Rooms during this time.

We want to offer our valued Qantas Club members as much flexibility as possible, so we have extended access to all of your membership benefits for six months.

To be eligible for the extension, you must have been a Qantas Club member as at 23 March 2020 with a membership paid for using a credit or debit card, or by redeeming Qantas Points.
