Qantas club membership

Yeah I do the same, everything backed up to google drive and dropbox (just in case lol)
I like to think of everything now, so I don't have to think about this stuff while trying to enjoy my vacation.

I don't fly anywhere near enough to have free membership. But I do work for a large business and am able to take advantage of the corporate rate (currently $265/year) for membership.

I was very disappointed with my Qantas Club membership on my recent trip. We had booked with Qantas to fly to Hanoi. I knew that the Qantas club had closed in Bangkok but assumed on the 3 hour plus stop there to catch our ongoing flight we would have access to the partnership lounge. This was not the case as our boarding passes were for Vietnam airlines. Apparently other travellers were under the same assumption as me. The manager could not be swayed. We were able to use the lounge on the way back as we had boarding passes with QF. i didn't book with Vietnam airlines, Qantas did this so why didn't we have lounge access? I already know the answer but this is wrong Qantas.

You have to call ANZ and request the passes to be sent out.

Hi - I'm a bit of a newbie here and apologies if this has already been covered......in the ANZ FF Black card, regarding QC entry, it states "each invitation is valid for a single visit for one person only.....".

My question is if I am the ANZ FF Black card holder, and apply for the QC lounge invitation, can my partner accompany me, or not?

it is one pass per person and it tends to be enforced. Check the lounge meet up thread for other AFFers who may be travelling on the same flight and day. Don't you get 2 lounge passes, I've just forgotten on ANZ?

If purchasing an Admiral's Club 30 day membership to use in Qantas lounges, check if it permits entry to the lounges that you would like to use. Brisbane International is not included but Domestic is.

So I am assuming you were a VN flight from BKK to HAN? If you were on the VN flight number it's a simple case of the flight conditions not meeting the entry criteria for the lounge. There was a recent thread regarding the same case prior to a CX flight, however it is the flight number that determines eligibility not the place of purchase unfortunately.

Are you sure about this? My understanding was that you can use it in either, provided you're on a QF or AA flight number.

Re Brisbane International, it was on the website and I had an email from AA confirming no access. We used Brisbane domestic returning from Narita.
Cannot use the Qantas lounge at Narita but can the AA lounge.
We were denied access to the Domestic Mel lounge even though we showed AA's website T&C and the confirmation email from AA!

You can backdate your Qantas Club membership for up to one year. If you do this you don't have to pay the joining fee again, but you do have to pay to renew the membership from the month it expired. After one year I think you would have to pay the joining fee again.

Also, I happen to have just got off an Air Asia redeye flight in business class. The flight was pretty cheap, but it's not really a proper business class product. You get a semi-comfortable angle-flat bed, as well as one complimentary meal & bottle of water on board. But you don't get lounge access, any drinks on the plane (other than one bottle of water), frequent flyer points etc. etc. So I would say that it's not a bad budget option, but keep your expectations low.

You won't get the QF number printed on the BP if you have purchased the VN flight number. If you did purchase a QF codeshare, it is generally noted as Flight xx_ sold as QFxx_X.

With the Air Asia option, do they fly the 320 or 330 to HAN as I am fairly sure the 320's are single class?

Not sure about the Air Asia option as I haven't looked into it. I booked with Qantas from Brisbane to Hanoi, so would have thought it was code share but don't know much about the ticketing. Guess it pays to do your homework.

Purchasing a flight on the QF site for an airline other than QF doesn't automatically make it a codeshare. You need to actually have to select the QF flight number if it is possible for it to be a codeshare that you have purchased.
